ARCHIVED 4 Months Gluten-Free - No Improvement - Need Help!
Tarantula44 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi, sorry for the long post, please bare with me, I need some advice! I had negetive blood tests for celiac, but it runs in my family and I have malabsorption problems (undigested food), hormone imbalances, anxiety, migraines, severe hypoglycemia and digestive issues that all screamed celiac or gluten intolerance to my doctor. I have been STRICT gluten... -
ARCHIVED Nightshade Cc?
Tarantula44 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have Known for a couple years that I am sensitive to potatoes, they give me intestinal cramps and bone pain in my hips. I recently found out I'm sensitive to tomatoes so I avoid all nightshades now. My migraines have been getting better since. Two nights ago my partner cooked a chicken in the oven and put two potatoes in there for him. I ate the chicken... -
ARCHIVED Nightshade Allergy Symptoms?
Tarantula44 replied to Tarantula44's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks Mushroom. I definitely understand about foods causing different symptoms in people, I guess my question was, is it possible for nightshades to cause issues like swollen glands, anxiety, sinus inflammation etc at all. Your input about it taking a while and ups and downs helped. I guess I thought because I went through the withdrawal and got better... -
ARCHIVED Nightshade Allergy Symptoms?
Tarantula44 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello, I have been gluten-free and dairy free for a little over a month now (had some tests that "suggest" celiac and with symptoms and family members having celiac my dr diagnosed me with it). It's been a rollercoaster since day one. I did have the crazy miserable withdrawal that some have, the worst seems to be over now. But I am still having reactions... -
ARCHIVED Need Some Encouragement!

Oh wow! That is really interested about the false neg with Hashi's. My doc didn't diagnose me with Hashis I guess because my hormone levels were fine. I do have many symptoms though, intolerance to cold, hair is falling out, but she said lots of those symptoms can be interchangeable with adrenal issues which I do have primarily, she tested my cortisol levels... -
ARCHIVED Need Some Encouragement!
Tarantula44 replied to Tarantula44's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Kathryn, From reading this forum and other articles it seems lots of folks have negative blood tests but can still be positive. The testing sounds kinda nutz and not so reliable, I think many have realized that they feel better off gluten and so they should stick to that. I am off dairy as well, I eliminated that along with the gluten. I am on the UNDA... -
ARCHIVED Need Some Encouragement!
Tarantula44 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I'm so thankful for this site and the amount I've learned from you all since joining! I have had some negative blood tests but positive for total SIgA and thyroid antibodies. No biopsy, but celiac runs in family and my dr thinks I may have it. I agreed to do the strict gluten and dairy free diet. I started one month ago today and have noticed some improvements... -
ARCHIVED Please Help Determine Salivary Test Results!
Tarantula44 replied to Tarantula44's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, my blood test for total IgA was normal. I looked at my tests yesterday and also had the transglutaminase test done and that was neg for celiac too. I have been gluten free for three weeks now and dairy free for two weeks. I am noticing a big improvement in digestion, and other improvements too, like chronic swollen glands have subsided, and sinus inflammation... -
ARCHIVED Anybody Else Have Heat Intolerance?(Can't Stand A Shower)
Tarantula44 replied to LOWNskater52's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes! I have heat intolerance too, I have a hard time taking a shower too. I have adrenal issues (low cortisol) and this is a symptom from that I am pretty sure...which is hopefully all coming from gluten. I am new to this whole gluten intolerance thing, still trying to figure things out. I have blood sugar issues and I know when I am getting hot (too much... -
ARCHIVED Please Help Determine Salivary Test Results!
Tarantula44 replied to Tarantula44's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks Skylark, this is helpful. I had the ELISA tests which came back negative and also total IgA which was neg for celiac, I will see if my Dr can order these other ones. -
ARCHIVED Hypoglycemia A Symptom Of Celiac?

Thanks for the replies! This is hopeful! I'd love it if we could keep posting our improvements off gluten with hypoglycemia here. -
ARCHIVED Hypoglycemia A Symptom Of Celiac?
Tarantula44 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Everyone, I am wondering if hypoglycemia can be a symptom of celiac? I have severe reactive hypoglycemia for 2 years now. My Dr did tests for adrenal hormones and found my cortisol is lower than it should be which make sense. She wants me to take 1 Isocort pellet in morning. I guess my question is...will the hypo get better with the gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED Please Help Determine Salivary Test Results!
Tarantula44 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello, I recently had the basic blood tests done for celiac (Gliadin, total IGA, etc.) which came back negative. Celiac runs in my family and I have many symptoms so my Dr ordered salivary tests which she said could possibly be more conclusive. I am not doing the biopsy because of the invasiveness and my current health state, and am totally fine with eliminating... -
ARCHIVED Any Thoughts Or Ideas?
Tarantula44 replied to SamanthaC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow...it's amazing what food can do to people. I am new here and at the beginning of this too. I have learned so far that if tests come back normal all the time and you can't find a doctor to look deeper, that you sometimes have to take matters into your own hands. But still keep searching for a doctor that specializes in celiac like others mentioned. Another... -

ARCHIVED Bad Symptoms After Going gluten-free
Tarantula44 replied to Tarantula44's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks to both of you. I am eating really simply, I haven't had any of the gluten free foods...no sugar, soy, eggs or nightshades either (I haven't eaten these in years). I have always eaten whole foods, never processed and always cook my own meals from scratch. I guess my question is do your existing symptoms from gluten get exacerbated for a little while... -
ARCHIVED Waiting For Test Results
Tarantula44 replied to staceyk1p1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am in in the same boat pretty much. Lots of issues that NO doctor can figure out. Finally a Dr recommended getting checked for celiac. My bloodwork came back negative for celiac. I am convinced at this point that I still may have issues with gluten (and possibly dairy), so I am going on a gluten free diet to figure this out myself. This website and forum... -
ARCHIVED Bad Symptoms After Going gluten-free
Tarantula44 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I'm new and have posted a few times...I have read there can be a great deal of discomfort at the beginning of a gluten and casein free diet. I only went off gluten one week ago (dairy as of two days ago) and have been feeling extra fatigued, have had headaches, lightheaded, and have been having pain and discomfort in my stomach and throat. I've had GERD... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Diet Trial Question
Tarantula44 replied to Tarantula44's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks so much to both of you. I was told I had a soy allergy about 3 years ago and don't ever eat it. The main reason I feel gluten is my issue is because I eliminated it for two months (not strictly) and my inflammation issues started going away, i added it back in and two weeks after eating lots of it, my inflammation started coming back with a vengeance... -
ARCHIVED I'm Starting To Suspect This More And More
Tarantula44 replied to birdie22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You may want to ask for an adrenal panel as well as thyroid. If adrenals are not functioning properly you need to fix these first, before thyroid. Seems like only naturopaths test properly for adrenal function. You want to ask for a saliva circadian test for cortisol and DHEA. Also hormones such as progesterone could be low which could cause fatigue, or an... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Diet Trial Question
Tarantula44 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am new here and have had the typical initial blood tests for celiac (Gliadin IGA & IGG, transglutaminase IGA, total IGA) which came back negative for celiac. I still think I may have either celiac or gluten intolerance, it runs in my family too. Symptoms are: fatigue, muscle weakness, digestion issues that fluctuate, migraines, GERD, inflammation of... -
I too have pcos symptoms, not diagnosed but doc thinks I have it. High testosterone, ammenoreah (sp ???), and hypoglycemia. I am not a typical case either, 5'5" and 120 pounds, not typical high triglycerides either. But my doc thinks celiac may be the cause of this and lots of other typical celiac issues. My blood tests came back neg, but I'm starting on...

ARCHIVED Neg Blood Tests - Please Help!
Tarantula44 replied to Tarantula44's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks all of you. This helps a lot, and in doing more reading on the forum I've realized lots of people have had neg blood tests. I am actually getting the salivary gliadin test in a week or so. -
ARCHIVED Neg Blood Tests - Please Help!
Tarantula44 replied to Tarantula44's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks Takala. That helps to hear those symptoms went away being on the gluten free diet. I just desperately want to know I'm on the right track, but I guess the only real way to know is to follow the diet strictly for several months and see if symptoms clear...or not. -
ARCHIVED Neg Blood Tests - Please Help!
Tarantula44 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi everyone, Since my doctor recently brought up celiac as a possibility for me, I have become familiar with the disease and the wealth of info you all provide. Thank you for that. Since researching it, I have realized celiac makes so much sense for me. I have the common malabsoprtion issues (iron, folic acid, calcium, zinc), digestion issues, food allergies...
