  1. Thanks! One reason I've waited so long to get checked is because just about when I feel like the pain and discomfort is enough to be seen, it goes away, or at least enough to where its tolerable. haha. Sitting here about to leave for my ultrasounds for gallbladder and whatever else.... just drinking the water for the tests on an empty stomach has me...
  2. Can symptoms of gluten intolerance come and go? Seems like my stomach pains and discomforts will really come and go. Today I have felt better than I have in awhile and I ate quite a bit of gluten (having to get tested anyway, still). I have my normal bit of bloating but not a lot of pain or anything, and I was able to eat more than usual today as well...
  3. Could you guys try lactose free instead of going completely dairy free? Hard cheeses like cheddar and mozzarella are also low lactose. I bought some Lactaid to try cooking with and stuff...I'm just beginning the process of finding out if I have a gluten intolerance.
  4. I had bloodwork done last week...I have a gallbladder u/s this week. On Jan 4 I have an endoscopy as well as a...hmm can't remember the name...not a full colonoscopy but just the very end (I have to do enemas, not a complete purge) because I've had some intermittent bleeding (probably from a fissure due to constipation). I think if my bloodwork comes...
  5. Wow, really? My reactions don't seem THAT bad....I doubt I have true Celiac. Maybe a mild intolerance???? I can't see needing facial protection against flour..... I don't feel sick enough to need THAT...

    ARCHIVED Doctor Jersey/pa

Oh okay sorry...I just figured it would pop up again for any new PA people, but I could start a new thread if that's better. I didn't know how active the boards were. Thanks!
  7. Wow we are the same age...I'm 37 at the end of January. My doctors won't really test my hormones, they say they can't tell anything from it anyway. I started taking magnesium, 500 mg/day, and its helping.
  8. The ironic thing was that I was filling an order (as a favor, its not my usual thing) for a past customer for whom I did her wedding cake...but she is now gluten free and she wanted me to try to replicate her wedding cake in a small version, gluten free. So I did...and the day the cake was picked up is the day I went to the dr and found out I would be tested...

    ARCHIVED Doctor Jersey/pa

I just saw a really great doctor, Dr. Harvey Guttmann. I just went in for stomach and intestinal problems, had no thought whatsoever about Celiac, but he is the one who came up with it and is doing all the testing on me for it. I was very impressed with the nice office and great people and the doctor himself. He's the head GI at Abington hospital.
  10. How old are you? Hormones are nasty little things! :-) I'm just starting looking into gluten free (see my new post in this forum)...but I'm 36 (almost 37) and I know that my hormones are starting to get weirder. And from what I'm reading, some of the symptoms from a LOT of different conditions, and perimenopause and things like that can be really similar...
  11. Hi all! I found this board tonight while doing a Google search. I've had something like IBS ever since I was in college (am 36 now). It comes and goes, sometimes worse, sometimes better. I also have lactose intolerace to a greater or less degree (sometimes I can handle it, sometimes not). Stress also plays a part. Well for the past 4 months or...
