  1. This is a restaurant that has the best family style chicken and french fries in the world. They are about 10 mins away from me and I was so bummed that I may never be able to eat there again; finally broke down and called them. I was put through to a chef in the kitchen and he went over everything with me (which I knew - but it was so nice; can have the...
  2. Thank God - I was beginning to think I'd gone off the deep end. Tostios, my safe food. I was diagnosed about 2 months ago and I tell people they should have taken out stock in the company. It has replaced my bread; in the morning with coffee, for my snacks during the day, at lunchtime and at night. But now it seems to have gone away (the craving)...
  3. Kaiti, I am so confused ... and if you don't me asking, how old are you? I can't figure it from the picture. You are so knowledgeable! I never had the ttg test, but was diagnosed with the Iga and IGg. So now I'm wondering if I do have celiacs .... and to make it even tougher, I'm having a very difficult time staying away from the forbidden foods...
  4. Not to sound too stupid .... but what is whey? ann
  5. Hi All, I was diagnosed about 2 months ago ... and after tests for some pretty serious diseases (bone marrow biopsy for cancer - negative) am now just trying to figure out this food thing. I've been eating "safe" foods - mainly Tostios, George's muffins, meat, salad. I am trying to find other things now ... and would appreciate any help you all can...
  6. I stopped taking 1 a Day because my DH kept getting worse; it was better on Centrum, which is gluten-free ann
  7. Hi Stacy, Thanks - I read it was safe too, but being a wine idiot I didn't know if sangria was the same thing as regular wine. I know it's wine, but, well, you know the drill. What was added to it? LOL My rash didn't get any worse when I drank it, so I figured it must have been ok. Still not the same thing as beer, but on the plus side the only time...
  8. I have been through a round of tests because of low wbc/rbc/platelets. Even a bone marrow biopsy because of the low wbc. I have been diagnosed with ITP - Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura - , an autoimmune blood disorder (Open Original Shared Link) I do not have the rash that goes with it and it's low level; they will just have me have blood work...
  9. Hi, Arbor Mist Sangria - is it safe? I hope so; I'm a (well, was) a beer drinker, so this wine thing is a new venture for me. I wanted wine coolers, but the only B&J I could find had malt in it and I knew that was a no-no. Ann
  10. I've also tested negative for Lupus - but I do have ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura). And, because my white blood count is off, I am now going to have a bone marrow biopsy to "rule out" Lymphoma. To say the least, I'm thinking Lupus may have been a much better diagnosis. Ann
  11. Eloisa, Orville? Is that the only kind that is safe? That's OK with me, but I didn't realize it. And wheat thins are a thing of the past; never to cross these lips again. Ann
  12. Hi, I guess you're in luck ... I am currently waiting results from lab work for lupus and/or ITP. I will let you know what was done, what the results were and whatever else the hematologist tells me. He is wonderful - sat down on the initial consultation and went over my previous blood work step by step, making sure I understood that it was all benign...
  13. Thanks! I thought my gut was OK, but I guess not. I did know that, right before my stomach blew up that first time, I was eating wheat thins, popcorn, peanuts & apple juice. Do NOT even ask. Grains, vegetable, protein & fruit if you want me to justify the diet It's taken me some time to understand that my tummy is still sensitive, although...
  14. Hi, I work in a school ... I know all about the peanut allergy thing. But I never, ever had a problem before I had the physical symptons of celiacs. I lived on peanut butter, at candy with it in it, ate peanuts at parties, etc. And thanks for the suggestion of the allergy tests - but I'll just stay away from them for now on. Not worth the outcome....
  15. Hi, This is so weird. I've always been able to eat peanuts, peanut butter, etc. But just about the time they physical symptons of celiacs was showing up (about 1 1/2 months ago) I was also getting a stomache from peanuts. I thought it was coincidental ... but had some m&m peanuts last night and paid for it with super size tummy ache all night long...

    ARCHIVED Mass Doc

I know that there are doctors in Boston, I just don't want to take that route if I can avoid it. I'd be driving in alone ... and it's at least an hour. Here are the names from the Clan Thompson list: Open Original Shared Link Catherine Petruff Cheney, MD Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center 330 Brookline Avenue Boston, MA 02215 Telephone: 617...

    ARCHIVED Mass Doc

Anyone have a name of a doctor in Massachusetts? Preferably Worcester area. Thanks! Ann
  18. Hi, I've become pushy - I finally emailed my doctor and asked her about the abnormal counts (I had picked up my lab work) and then asked her what she was looking for - and could it be cancer. She emailed me back today; she said the antiplatelet did "imply low grade ITP" ; Lupus is still being considered. She wants me to see the hematologist because...
  19. Hi All, I finally emailed my doctor ... and she said the lab work abnormality could indicate either Lupus or ITP - Idiopathic Thromocytopenic Purpura. Neither is wonderful, but certainly better then what I was thinking I had. And to think that one month ago I was fine, absolutely fine ... and still feel that way today! Two good days in a row ....
  20. Vetnurse, You said your doctor asked about alcohol consumption? Were your liver enzymes out of whack? And did you have to go see any other doctors? I guess I'm trying to find a good answer as to why I have to go see a hematologist ... other then my blood counts aren't so good. And Molly ... well, thank you for your compliments. Of course, my...
  21. Hi srdover, A week ago I was cleaning house (and I HATE to clean). I evidently ate something wrong, because by this past Friday I was tired and on Saturday the bathroom was my best friend. But I'm back to feeling more peppy today. I think it was the vitamins that I took; I went out and bought the recommended Centrum with no reactions. Either that or...
  22. so is it ok to take the centrum?
  23. Thanks everyone. I actually just came back from buying Centrum ... and I picked up some vitamin C, too. I'm feeling very tired and weak today ... but I think it's from whatever I ate that wasn't gluten-free. And I was feeling so back to normal this past Monday .... You guys are the best, for sure. I don't buy a single thing without checking this...
  24. I'd love a copy of the list too! Any format is fine anniej55@aol.com Thanks!
  25. Hi All, Thanks for the replies. Specific concern? Keeping my sanity and not thinking that they're looking for something more serious. OK .... so if my doctor put me on 50,000 of vitamin D 3X a week because of malasorption, then it isn't a leap to come to the conclusion that my blood work is low (platelets, rbc, wbc) because of 1. Poor eating habits...
