  1. Hello everyone, Just here for a little rant...

I am newly diagnosed and I have been gluten free and lactose free for a month (which felt like much longer). I was doing everything right and doing so well. Last night I had a couple drinks at a party and on the way home we went to Mc donalds, and I ended up getting a burger (which obviously contains gluten). I wasn't that drunk, I knew I should't have done it at the time but I didn't care! I don't get extremely sick from eating gluten but I do get C and cramps. I feel like all of my hard work went out the window and I am back to square 1.. I am so disappointed in myself :(

  2. Thank you so much for your post! I am newly diagnosed and this was very helpful! I have a question though... One of my main symptoms with eating gluten is constipation. I never have diarrhea like a lot do. And I heard that probiodics were good for us and that they help stop diarrhea. Where I have a problem with constipation instead will taking these keep me constipated? because that is the last thing I want!

  3. Thank you! :) I just need to learn to be a little patient with this i think!

    Welcome to the forum!

I didn't have C/D as a symptom from my Celiac but I can tell you that it took weeks/months for some of my symptoms to improve. The doctor who diagnosed me told me to give it at least 3 months to see any improvement and 6-12 months to see a real improvement in how I felt.

Stick to plain natural foods (meat, rice, veg, fruit...dairy if you can handle it...etc) and don't load up on lots of gluten-free replacement foods. Simple is better for your body at this point.

Good luck and be patient, it does get better over time.

  4. Hello, I have been recently diagnosed with Celiac. I know when a lot of Celiacs have gluten it goes right through them. My problem is the opposite. Before I was diagnosed I had chronic constipation. Now that I am off the gluten I am noticing some differences but can anyone tell me how long after getting off of the gluten it was before their bowels started working normally?
