ARCHIVED College Dating
glutenfree015 replied to DS29790bb's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I’m a 19 year old girl, and I worry about this a lot too. I’m nervous about going out with friends for day trips and things, because I don’t know where is safe to eat. I’m studying abroad next year and I’m really concerned about that too. As far as the girl goes, not being able to eat at cool restaurants is probably not going to be a deal breaker. If she l... -

ARCHIVED Very Hungry
glutenfree015 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey everyone! I’ve been gluten free for 4 months now( soy and dairy free for 2.5 months), and though I struggled a lot at first, things finally seem to be settling down. I do have a quick question for everyone: now that I have been gluten free for 4 months, I am hungry all of the time! I never used to eat much before going gluten free, and even for the f... -
ARCHIVED Archer Farms Corn Chips
glutenfree015 replied to glutenfree015's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, I have considered that it may be corn. However corn pasta, corn flour in bread products, and cooked corn doesn’t bother me. I will contact the company tomorrow! -
ARCHIVED Archer Farms Corn Chips
glutenfree015 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Has anyone else experienced problems with Archer Farms (Target brand) corn chips? I picked up some white corn chips by them from Target a few weeks ago. The first time I ate them, I felt sick to my stomach for a few days but didn’t make the conection. When I ate them again a few days ago, I got sick again, and am still feeling “off". Since I’m pretty new t... -

ARCHIVED Exhausted And Venting

Also my vitamin D is low! It was within the normal range, but at the very bottom. I have a feeling that explains why I have been so tired and achy. Thanks everyone! -
ARCHIVED Exhausted And Venting
glutenfree015 replied to glutenfree015's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My vitamins all came back very good. My ferritin was a 38 (up from 22 in August), my B12 was actually higher than the normal range, and my folate was good too. They’re testing for Vitamin D now, which I have a hunch is low. -
ARCHIVED Exhausted And Venting
glutenfree015 replied to glutenfree015's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just got some of my blood results back, and my ferritin has finally gone up for the first time in over a year! I’m so excited! 3 months gluten and free and it has gone up 16 points. Still waiting on the vitamin D results, but I started taking 5000 IU a day last Friday and I have been feeling a little better since Monday, so I’m hoping it is connected. I’... -
ARCHIVED Exhausted And Venting
glutenfree015 replied to glutenfree015's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Mushroom. I was vitamin D deficient last year, so I may just pick up a supplement at Walgreens or something. My levels were never checked to see if they got back to normal and I stopped supplementing last spring. I realize it is not a great idea to supplement blindly, but adding an extra 1000 IU a day until I can get home to see my regular doctor probably... -
ARCHIVED Exhausted And Venting
glutenfree015 replied to glutenfree015's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone! I had some blood drawn at student health today, they are checking my iron, B12, and folate levels. They didn’t check my thyroid because it was fine back in August, but if the labs are normal than I may ask them to. The doctor feels pretty confident that it is low iron, since I have been anemic for the last year, but I guess we will see. ... -

Thanks everyone, I agree with you all on the vitamin aspect. I am going to see if student health can run a vitamin panel, otherwise I will have to wait until Thanksgiving. My parents keep telling me its normal to be tired because I am so involved with school, but it is a very peculiar kind of fatigue-- almost like my arms and legs weigh a thousand pounds... -
I’ve been gluten free for almost 12 weeks now and I’ve been on a rollercoaster for every single one of them! First it was the stomach problems, then it was the weird shaking episodes, then it was the weight loss. Now it is the exhaustion. I feel like I’ve got a pretty good handle on what I can and cannot eat, but I’m so frustrated that I’m still having pr...

ARCHIVED College Student Needing Advice
glutenfree015 replied to mackahroni's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hey there, I am a college sophomore and I have only been gluten-free for about 2 months, so I totally understand what you are going through! My advice to you is to a.) consider the options your school has for special diets students. Can they accommodate you? Do they have gluten free foods available? If no, then b.) consider doing your own cooking and grocery... -
