ARCHIVED Is It Normal For Doctors To Discourage Celiac Testing?
learning2cope replied to MIgrainePosterChild's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What does "can you just oats??" mean? Lol I'm talking about hand lotion or cream to help with my severely intensely itchy psoriasis or whatever it is. The colloidal oatmeal really helps with the severe itching. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Bloodwork Results Back, What Do They Mean?
learning2cope replied to learning2cope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you Gottaski. How likely is it I still have celiac even since those blood tests are negative? I will try to get my skin biopsied later this week at my dermatologist appointment to see if I have DH. I'm not relying solely on this bloodwork to determine if I go gluten-free or not. But my family is going to go gluten free for a number of months just to... -

Cookinpapa, the only reason oatmeal is important to me is because it seems to dramatically reduce my itching from my psoriasis (dh?). It's a horrible deep seated impossible to satisfy itch that I get all the time. The Aveeno killed the itch!! So yeah, I hope to be able to find something that has oatmeal in it that is gluten-free. -

I agree cavernio. I could possibly not have celiac and that would be good except that I'd not have a way to feel better unless somehow going gluten-free did fix my issues. My main issue is my psoriasis (DH?) My first derm had no idea what it was and after repeated steroid ointments or creams and salicylic acid treatments he referred me to another derm. This... -

I just clicked on Open Original Shared Link and it says the Active Naturals products have "wheat protein" in them.. Grr. Ok I'll keep looking. Maybe somehow I can find a gluten-free oatmeal lotion/cream somewhere. Any ideas? -

I double checked the ingredients and did not see any gluten containing items. Are you saying you experience issues with Aveeno despite that? Active Ingredients: Dimethicone Inactive Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Petrolatum, Isopropyl Palmitate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Oat Flour (Avena Sativa), Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Chloride ... -

Yes I **think** I have a good dermatologist - we'll see. I just made an appointment to be seen for it this coming Thursday. And YES IF it does turn out to be DH I will definitely personally bring my GP the test results and shove them under his nose. I'll even pay for an office visit with him just so I can see his face. Though I may just wait until my next... -

Well I just went in to my doctors appointment to get blood work done to test for celiac. my doctor thought i was crazy. He just typed away onto his computer while I tried to explain why I felt that I wanted tested. He said more than once "I wish people could have their internet priveleges revoked..." because I had "researched" my symptoms and came to the... -
ARCHIVED I'm Too Hot Or Too Cold, Chills, Never In Between Today!
learning2cope replied to learning2cope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I ended up falling asleep and when I woke up about 2 hours later all that crazy temperature fluctuations were gone. So, I'm not sure what happened. I was so relieved when I woke up and realized it was gone. i wonder if it was from lack of sleep from the previous 2 days. I really didn't get much quality sleep during those days, had insomnia pretty bad. If... -

My doctor poopooed me when I suggested celiac as a possible cause for many of my health problems. I am seeing him on Friday (a surprise appointment LOL) and requesting he test me for the appropriate blood tests. If he poopoos me again I'm going to say "Look buster, I pay the bills here and if I want tested for something it doesn't take much effort for you... -
Ok, I've not been yet diagnosed with anything relating to celiac but I have my doc appt on Friday and will request the specific blood tests to be done. Today I can't seem to get to a normal feeling temperature. I have my legs covered up and my feet are sweating (too hot!!) but if I put my fan on I'm way too cold! I get chills and goose bumps all over if I...

ARCHIVED Is Irritability Common Among Celiac Patients?
learning2cope replied to learning2cope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've not noticed irritability in me at all when ingesting gluten from bread or pasta. But something about those malted milk balls did it to me. and it was bad. I wouldn't be so freaked out by it except severe confusion went along with it. I'll have to try to find out if it was the malt in it or the food dyes for the shell of the candies. Either way, I will... -

Hmm I do remember a time when I could NOT eat bananas. It felt like my stomach was being ripped apart by the blood vessels. It was a nasty reaction! Stabbing, tearing kinds of pain. I didn't eat bananas from mid high school (2000) to probably 2008 or 2009. I didn't seem to have that reaction after that, I can now eat bananas without any issues. And in 20... -

I'm glad you are feeling better Smylinacha. I know I had really bad irritability and confusion for a full 20 hours after eating malted milk balls. I'm not yet on a gluten-free diet because I need to make an appointment to get tested for celiac disease. I will (reluctantly) make the call tomorrow I think for the appointment. I totally forgot to call today... -
Yes it does, thank you. I think maybe at the time those tests were run the doc was looking for a reason for my recurrent toe infections. But I did find a reason for them even though it makes no sense to me. I have had at least one toe infection per month since before March of last year, same toe, except for this time which I have one now in my other big...

LOL "fun social time" hehe Yeah I can sorta see that. I'm looking at the Mayo Clinic's Celiac Disease Diagnostic Testing Algorighm PDF chart Open Original Shared Link. I am a litle confused by it. It starts off here by saying Get thested for this (Testing for selective IgA deficiency/IGA/8157 Immunoglobulin A (IgA), Serum ) and it says if you have "normal...

I don't know of any farms around here. I do know there is a llama farm and a pig farm, though they are very small operations. Plus I am not sure the pig farm is even a meat producing farm. I'll try to look into local farms when we move. But would we have to butcher the cow ourselves if we bought meat from a local farmer? I don't even know if there are butchers...

Ah, thank you. well most of the red meat I eat is in kosher beef hot dogs, but I doubt that they are free range, grass fed. And it doesn't say organic on the package. I'd love to be able to find and afford organic grass fed meat but we live in a smallish town, soon to be moving to a smaller town across the country. LOL Which stinks since I'm sure I'd get...

ARCHIVED Possible Gluten Intolerance
learning2cope replied to mylove0mylife's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah, from what I hear you really do need those blood tests at a minimum. I know that means going to a doctor when you don't have health insurance, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do to get diagnosed so you can fix it and feel better. I am currently trying to figure out if I should be tested OR just go gluten-free. I'm sick of seeing my doctor... -
I hate to do this to you all but I'm confused as heck by my lab work. I have a copy of ALL of my labs since I started seeing my current GP and I went through them and googled all of them to see what they *could* mean. Here are the results of the abnormal ones… The calcium oxalate I guess means I had moderate kidney stones.. He never told me that. That w...

ARCHIVED Is Irritability Common Among Celiac Patients?
learning2cope replied to learning2cope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My irritability didn't go away till about mid-day yesterday. I had to sleep it off. Haven't had it since so I can only assume it had to do with the malted milk balls somehow. Though I never get that reaction to chocolate alone. Could it have been the coloring added to them? They wre colorful, had a candy coated shell. My confusion seemed to go away later... -
ARCHIVED Endomysial Antibody Iga, Is That Enough To Prove Im Not Celiac?
learning2cope replied to Leis's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm not sure if that test alone is enough (I'm new to all of this and have not yet been diagnosed) but if you went gluten-free prior to getting the test done it very well could have caused that negative result if you do have celiac disease. -
ARCHIVED Is Irritability Common Among Celiac Patients?
learning2cope replied to learning2cope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Haha yeah. That stinks that you have many intolerances. I've not noticed any issue with any other food or drink but apparently it's common for those with celiac. I'm more concerned with my confusion/lack of short term memory. I'll keep an eye on it. It may be a new manifestation of celiac for me though I don't know if that's even possibly related to celiac...
