  1. NVSmom, I had no idea you lived in Alberta. I am from Edmonton. I haven't heard of Erfa's thyroid. I will have to make another appointment with my ND to see if he can re-test my thyroid. I was only taking 30 mg of Armour for 1 month to give it a try. Then my hair started to fall out and my stomach got worse so I stopped taking it. Now my hair is coming out...
  2. Thank you Irishheart. I think you are right about the ELISA tests. I do believe in them somewhat though as I know I have issues with gluten and dairy. Garlic I had no idea about and it wasn't one of the foods that I ate too often but garlic is in everything so who knows. Eggs give me stomach aches and make me tired like gluten does. Maybe I don't have issues...
  3. Hi NVSmom, Thanks so much for your comments. I do try to have olive oil and coconut oil every day. I eat olives, I cook with olive oil and grapeseed oil and I eat coconut oil by the teaspoon full or bake with it. I also try to have avocados once and a while but they make my stomach upset so not too often. Maybe I am still deficient in fats? As for the...
  4. Marion, I feel for you! It is terrible when doctors only want to give drugs to fix you and pass you off as a depressed crazy person. My doctor actually asked if I was depressed too and I told him that I didn't think that I was but it is frustrating when you feel so crappy every day. It starts to get on your nerves. I think after these most recent test results...
  5. Thank you! Now if I could just figure out how to heal my gut! I know my food is still not digesting well as it comes out much like it goes in. LOL sorry for TMI! So far I have been staying away from my intolerances, taking digestive enzymes, sometimes probiotics, aloe vera, DGL, L-glutamine. So far I haven't seen any improvement in my digestion. I know it...
  6. Thanks again Cyclinglady! I seem to be staying at 105 lbs for the past week and I know I don't eat enough sometimes so maybe I do need to see a nutritionist. I have my bone scan scheduled for this Tuesday so we will see what it says. My back pain has been non-stop for the past 6 weeks with no end in sight. Uggg! I am 43 years old so menopause could be...
  7. Thanks Laura for your reply. Actually I live in Canada so all medical tests and documentation is on Netcare which is our electronic system. Any doctor that has access to Netcare can look up my previous tests and diagnosis. My doctor did recently check my B12 levels which were now normal as I have been supplementing for the past 4-5 months as my B12 used...
  8. I have been feeling crappy for the past 8 years since having my son. It has only been the last year or so that I have been having worse stomach issues than normal and 6-9 months ago I decided to go off gluten to see if my symptoms would improve. I have been tested 3 times for Celiac and each time the tests have come back negative but each time I have been...
  9. Hi D, I was tested for gluten about 3 years ago by my not so helpful family doctor. He said my results came back negative but I am pretty sure he was only testing for one antibody at the time, not a whole panel of tests. I also don't remember if I was eating a lot of gluten at the time either so that could have also given me a negative result. For...
  10. Thanks everyone for your replies and tips! I really appreciate it! As mentioned in my original post, for this past week or so I have been feeling really terrible including extremely bad heartburn. I went to see my doctor yesterday and he put me on some DGL (chewable licorice supplements) for heartburn, gastro relief, L glutamine powder, a potent probiotic...
  11. I just received my results from my food intolerance panels from Meridien Labs (testing for IgG4 and IgG antibodies). I am so thankful to have these results as now I can start on the road to recovery! I ended up doing both food panels (which included spices) for a total of 196 allergens and most of my results were in the low range with a few main ones...
  12. Maybe I have issues with bananas, quinoa and celery too. Yuck! I am thinking I have a leaky gut because a year ago I could eat anything I wanted without noticeable problems. Uggggg... These are the ingredients for the fake cheese. The reason I picked it was because it was dairy, casein and whey free. Filtered water, tapioca flour, palm fruit oil, non...
  13. Ok, the porridge I was eating is called boring porridge (flax seeds, sesame seeds, shredded coconut, chia, goji berries, red dates, sea salt) so no oats but this company does make oat cereal so maybe there is oat cross contamination going on. Their product is certified gluten free/wheat free. I think I will take a breather from it anyway in case one of the...
  14. Thanks Notme! Can I ask what you were eating when you started on your boring elimination diet?
  15. I actually just started the hemp seeds a couple of days ago. Maybe I am reacting to that too! This is so frustrating! I am going to have to google an elimination diet to try. I don't know if it is healthy just to only eat chicken and rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
  16. Thanks Shadowicewolf. It is not really oatmeal exactly. It is more like a porridge with flax, dates, hemp, goji berries. I can't remember the name of it right now but my Mom is going to call me with the name shortly because she also bought some. I only started eating it three days ago but I think i am going to cut it out for a while anyway in case I am reacting...
  17. I have been on a gluten free diet for the past 2.5 months and I felt good for a little while but for the past 2 months I am having some other food intolerance issues as well and my health keeps yo-yoing daily. I also have low vitamin B12, low ferritin, hypothyroid symptoms (I am on Armour Thyroid), and have some other issues such as tingling, low blood sugar...
  18. Thanks so much everyone! It's great to know that I don't need to get rid of all of my glass canisters.
  19. I found out that I am gluten-intolerant and for the past two months have been following a gluten-free diet. My pantry was in a big need of a cleaning and today my Mom and I filled 6 garbage bags full of gluten containing items that had expired and old flours that I would never use again. I now have a bunch of canning jars and other larger glass canisters...
  20. Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. It feels great to know I am not alone and that others have been in similar situations. Also, thank you for your suggestions. I am crossing my fingers that I get all of my intolerances sorted out soon. It is hard to know what to eat anymore and I am getting bored with the same-old that I have been eating for...
  21. You are totally right! The watermelon was bought at the grocery store and was already cut up so it could have been cross-contaminated. I did make some onion cakes at home (being careful about cc) and they made me sick and then I also got sick again when I ate out at a gluten free/vegan restaurant and the onion rings and stew with onions in it could have also...
  22. Thanks for this! That is what I thought too! How am I supposed to be faking diarrhea and big dark, sunken circles under my eyes along with all of the other symptoms that I had and some that I continue to have. Thanks also for the suggestion of using a food journal. I will have to give that a try.
  23. I have been about 10 weeks gluten free now after self-diagnosing myself. My family doctor would not re-test me for celiac (after he had tested me 3 years ago) even though I have a huge list of symptoms. Since I was not even certain what tests my Dr. did or if I was even eating a gluten heavy diet at the time, I decided to do my own trial and see how I felt...
  24. Thanks everyone for your replies and tips. I really appreciate it! It is going to take some time but hopefully my family (including my Mom) eventually gets used to my new eating habits and can sometimes be accommodating. Take care.
