  1. POUTINE!!!!!!!!!!! Mmm...fries with cheese curds and gravy...esp. the ones you get at the casse-croûte stands. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........
  2. Thanks for the replies, everyone! It is nice to get some of your experiences/perspectives on this. Today, I was in the grocery store where they do not sell ~organic~ meat/chicken there, just regular meat. I was totally craving some chicken, walked by the aisle, but did not purchase anything because it wasn't organic like I usually buy. That was just an...
  3. Hey all, Now, for the past while, I have been eating along the lines of strict vegetarianism as well as being gluten free. My reasons for doing this were (besides not being able to eat gluten/dairy) health reasons. I found that a lot of meat gave me tummy trouble when I ate it. I did still eat moderate amounts of fish. However, during my time eating...
  4. These cards sound great, but I have a couple of questions: 1) Is there a way to view the cards before you buy them? I went to the website to check them out, but it seems that you can't really take a look at them before ordering. 2) Are there cards that also have a dairy-free/casein-free component? added to them? Would love to know... thanks!

    ARCHIVED Celiac Runners

Hello, I am somewhat new to running, although I have been running for the past 6 months or so. Right now I am doing a 10K training clinic and although I do not feel too out of shape and I know I don't look too out of shape (not that it really matters, but still), I am a BACK OF THE PACK runner. I run 4 times a week and I walk about an hour to and from...
  6. Hi! Another Canadian here...from Ottawa! Other than the expense, I never really have difficulty finding food that I can eat. I usually go to the Natural Food Pantry, either in the market, or in Billings Bridge. They usually have good stuff there. Loblaws natural food section also carries good stuff that is gluten-free/CF, etc. Oh, while on the topic...
  7. excellent replies! It is interesting to hear all of your stories. I have also been there, in your boat...always thinking about it and what I can't eat. I guess on some level it is always with me, but as one poster pointed out, my actions and thought processes are so much a part of me...it is just so ingrained in me, that I don't even think twice about...
  8. Hello... Haven't posted in...um....almost forever, but thought I would pop my head in again! I've been reading a lot of posts that talk about how people are frustrated an consumed with celiac disease, etc... but does anyone on here hardly *remember* that they have this condition? Don't get me wrong, I am always very vigilant about food I eat, etc, but...
  9. If you're looking for some great restaurants in Toronto that offer gluten-free fare, try this site: Open Original Shared Link It lists heaps of restaruants that provide gluten-free options. Check out "Il Fornello", an Italian restaraunt that offers gluten free pasta, pizza, bruchetta. I've wanted to check it out for ages, but the last time I was...

    ARCHIVED Skin

I've had a terrible problem with rashes over the past few years. The red, scaly kind that got (gets) red after taking showers. It started out on my FEET and the rash came and went over a period of a year and eventually I started getting rashes on my legs, my face, stomach, arms, back, etc. While the rash has left my feet, and gotten better for the most...
  11. Ha! We were in Costa Rica at the same time! I just returned home from Costa Rica about a week earlier than you did. I travelled around there for 2 weeks, and I agree...not having to deal with a lot of food issues was GREAT!! I loved eating rice & beans everyday..and those frescos (tropical fruit blended with water or milk) were divine...and so inexpensive...
  12. Hi there, I flew with Delta about 2 weeks ago... I had ordered a gluten-free meal when I bought my tickets and they even had the "special meal" label on my ticket. When it came time to eat, the airline people asked me to choose a meal, as they always do. Apparently, my gluten-free order had not gone through as they weren't even aware I had a special meal...
  13. Hello... Haven't been on here in awhile! I am venting! Having visited a naturopath over the past couple of months, I have had gone on an elimination diet. Before going to the naturopath, I had maintained a strict, gluten-free diet for years! However, over the past year or two i've had a lot of trouble w/ stomach upset, despite my gluten-free diet, along...
  14. Ha! Thanks for your post. I am a little late replying... it's funny, I don't come on there boards often, and this particular post hadn't been answered for ages..and I just had a feeling that someone replied to my post! Great...thanks for some suggestions. I called La Dolce Vita one weekend, and alas...they were out of gluten-free pizza!! I ended up finding...

    ARCHIVED Indian Food

I think you would have to ask what they put in their food. I eat a lot of vegetarian food, and quite often I eat out at this one Indian restaurant, in particular. The stuff that I always order is gluten-free...but other things may not be. I know that indian foods use a lot of chickpea flour in their recipies (at the the foods that I have eaten), so that...
