Hummingbird-Hill's Achievements

  1. I have Sjogrens Syndrome. Many of my symptoms are yours. Go to a rheumatologist for a checkup. I wish you well.
  2. I too have Sjogrens and Celiac. I was diagnosed 27 years ago with celiac and 20 years ago with Sjogrens. Celiac is the easier disease because it is up to me to keep healthy. With all the food available it is easy now. Sjogrens is a little bit more difficult. I am on plaquenile and it helps tremendously with the aches and pains. I feel better in the summer...
  3. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  4. Hi there: I went to China, staying in the Holiday Inn in Bejing for 2 weeks and loved it. It was about 10 years ago and am happy for your trip to bring home your new baby. What I did was get a paper from a local chinese woman who translated all of my allergies which I presented to all the restraurants and vendors. I never had one problem. I brought along...
  5. Dear KB: My first DX was celiac and that was 15 years ago. Since then I have been DX'd with Sjogrens, fibromyalgia, connective tissue disorder, and finally diabetes one year ago. I think the celiac was just a precurser to all the auto immune stuff that I finally ended up with. Sort of like a trial run. I look at it like it was God's little test to get...
  6. Dear Gabrielle: I have been reading all of the letters to you regarding your questions on panic disorder. You are so lucky to have found this group now. I just turned 50 and have had to deal with all those things mentioned by you and some of the others in the group. I was 7 when I had my first panic attack. I remember my mind racing in bed at night like...
  7. For me I usually get dizzy and have difficulty breathing. That lasts about 20 minutes. Then I get weak arms and legs, then D starts in and lasts about 2 days. If I have only had one gluten misstake, it takes me about 3 dys to get over it. I have had free meals from restraunts because after I tell the waitress in great depth what I can and cannot eat, and...
  8. Dear Mango: I have celiac disease and sjogrens syndrome. Because of this I go to the dentist very regularly. I have a personal relationship with my office and have paid for my dentists son's college education. Not that I mind because I love her. BUT, I understand where you're coming from. The first thing you have to do is find a good dentist that is...
  9. I was diagnosed with celiac disease 15 years ago. At that time I was also sensative to lactose which did go away. It took me a good 2 years to feel better. Even tho the Dr. said it took 3 months for the vilia (sp?) to regenerate, I felt lousy for those 2 years after. I believe it was because I was not aware of all the areas where gluten was hiding. It...
  10. I miss Good Italian Bread smothered with garlic butter and then toasted under the broiler. I had my sister bring me Italian bread when I lived in Hawaii. They didn't have it. And I also miss Pizza, thin crust with lots and lots of cheese, the kind that burns the top of your mouth if you eat it too quickly.
  11. Dear Kris: I was so glad to read this. I was very worried when I read your last posting. We need each other. I don't think people who have never gone through something as difficult as chronic illness can understand. They may have compassion, but to truly understand? My excavator of all people is someone I can talk to. He is a 250# big bear of a guy...
  12. Hi Cindy, Elye, et al: Thank you for the kind notes. I appreciate the help on the mayonnaise. Elye, the information on excercise is very important and I hate it. I truly hate excercising. BUT I know it is something I have to do for myself. One of the most difficult things for me to do is make time for myself. Right now I am working on our new house...
  13. Hi everyone: My celiac was dx about 15 years ago. My daughter is now (in 3 days)27 years old. Now get this...I am 5ft 11 inches. Allyson is 5 ft 3 inches. Her father is over 6 ft. I had heard that patients who have celiac have a higher incidence of having short children. She is smart and healthy in every other way, just short. If I could attach a...
  14. This conversation on Annatto is so imortant to me. I have been a celiac for 15 years. I have stayed away from annatto for all those years because that was the literature of the time. You mean to tell me I can have it now without any side effects?????? You mean I can have candy again?????Yellow cheese??????Yahooooooo Happy feet, happy feet, happy feet...
  15. Thanks for the nice reply's. I am on Lantus in the morning at 18 units and Novolog (?) at dinner depending on my levels. I did ask what the time frame for getting this under control was and the Dr. said if this doesnt do it there are 41 other meds out there to fool around with. I am making a little insulin now with my pancreas according to the Dr. I do...
