  1. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy last week. I did not get to see the Dr after the procedure. I only saw him when I was first brought into the OR. He did take 7 biopsies (but I have no idea from where). I asked the nurse when I woke up and she had no clue. Dr told husband, there was nothing major to worry about. There was no visible damge to anyrhing...
  2. Cyclinglady, I thought it was odd that he would do an endoscopy before blood tests. When I asked about it, he said he was requesting what blood tests the hospital did. I was in the ER in August for extreme pain. They said diverticulitis. My primary (I've been seeing for 8 years) said it was not that but definitely either Celiac or Ulcerative Colitis...
  3. Can't one have negative biopsy and still have positive blood tests and be Celiac? I am not sure how many biopsies he took of the small intestine. The nurse said a total of 7 biopsies from both my colonoscopy and egd, but she didn't know how many from what section.
  4. I had my colonoscopy and an endoscopy today. The GI dr said my colon is fine. No ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, or Crohns. He also said that there were no signs of scaling in my small intestine so Celiac is unlikely. He did take 7 biopsies (not sure from which end). He said not to go gluten free just yet. So the diagnosis now is gastritis. ...
  5. Will do. I think they ship out around the 16th. I will post what I get and what my family thinks of the stuff.
  6. I just signed up for Tasteguru. Groupon had a good deal (3months for $37). I have not received a box yet. I am new to gluten-free stuff (have not been diagnosed yet) and figured it was a good deal to try gluten free products. I keep seeing people say only eat whole fresh unprocessed foods. But then I see people asking for gluten free products. The cost...
  7. Oh thank you. I might be able to handle that.
  8. I am so hungry, but afraid to eat anything. I am overweight. I have struggled with my weight since about 8 or 9 years old (that seems to be when most of my problems starting occurring). But this past 6 weeks, I have lost about 12 lbs without trying, without exercising. Normally to lose 12 lbs I have to write everything I eat down and exercise like a maniac...
  9. I am so frustrated, discouraged, and exhausted when trying to find what to eat. I have had digestive issues all my life. I get really bad attacks (feels like labor pains) every couple of months. I have D multiple times a day. Some days are worse than others. But this past 6 weeks or so has been horrible. I can barely get out of bed. I have no energy...
  10. Thank you. I've been dealing with digestive (and a slew of other) issues since I was a kid. I've been getting ultrasounds, CT scans, etc since I was in my early 20s. I will be 40 in a few months. As I get older, it seems harder and harder to deal with the issues. I guess the GI dr will be able to tell if it is diverticulitis with a colonoscopy?...
  11. I said my gallbladder was fine. However, the GI dr went over the report from the ER. He said I have a large gallstone. He said it was probably asymptomatic or that I am in a lot pain from other things that I don't pay attention to it. He also mentioned that thete wss some gynecologic things going on. He told me what the report found. Asked who my gyn...
  12. Thank you. I will check it out. I am new to the Celiac world. The Dr is doing a Colonoscopy and a endoscopy with biopsies. He said he will remove any polyps if there are any. Thanks again.
  13. Procedures in 13 days.. If I wanted a Monday, I would have to wait longer. Early morning appt Yay!! Thank goodness for a bathroom attached to my bedroom and hulu plus on my tablet! In the meantime, he prescribed Librax and Prilosec. Is that normal? I didn't pick up the Librax because it was expensive. I am going to call tomorrow to see if he can...
  14. He did mention biopsies. If he doesn't do blood tests, should I request them (and which ones). I have not seen a list of celiac panel. Can you have positive blood yets and negative biopsies? Thanks everyone for all the help.
  15. He did mention foing biopsies. He also mention removing any polyps during the Colonoscopy. He asked what blood tests the ER took and I had no idea. He said he would order them. My primary Dr did not order any blood tests but sent me directly to the GI Dr.
  16. Went to my first GI appointment today. He has scheduled a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. He said that the endoscopy is the gold standard for diagnosing Celiac. He said he is going to order my blood tests from the hospital to see what they tested for.i asked the nurse if I need to make a follow up appointment. She said he would discuss that after the...
  17. Pain is left side. Also lower abdomen all the way across. Gallbladder and appendix are fine.
  18. I was in the ER with excruciating pain in my lower abdomen. They did ultrasounds (external and transvaginal), CT scans. Yhe ER dr said it was diverticulitis, but my primary says the outside of my colon looks fine. She saidtthat with all my symptoms, it is not Crohns nor IBS. My iron has been low for years , my liver functions are high. She said something...
  19. Hi. I am rather new to this site (found it last week). I am having my first GI appointment tomorrow (been waiting for 5 weeks). My primary dr says I have Celiac or Ulcerative Colitis (or both) and wants me to get tested. She wanted me to get into the GI asap. This is just a consultation. I am not sure what to expect. Also, do I tell my GI all my ailments...
  20. I have lost a few baby toenails in the past. It is rather freaky. After looking things up, it seemed to point to psorasis. I have psorasis on my elbows and have to put ointment on them several times a day. I also have nails that turn down if I can even get them to grow.
  21. I am sorry you have to deal with this. I am new (haven't been officially diagnosed). I have my consultation with a GI next week. My primary says I definitely have Celiac or Ulcerative Colitis or both. My Mom thinks this is because of all the "crazy" diets that I have been on, which I am not sure what I am talking about. She also thinks that I just need...
  22. I have read that you must eat an equivalent to 2 pieces of gluten bread for 6-8 weeks (some say 12 weeks) to get accurate results if you have been gluten free for any length of time. If you do not do a gluten challenge, then the results are not accurate. I am new to all this. My Dr suspects that I have Celiac or Ulcerative Colitis or both. I go see a...
  23. When I did mine, it was horrible (however, I am severely allergic to lots of things). I had to be off of all allergy medicines for a week (which caused lots of problem). I had numerous skin pricks. They swelled up pretty badly. I was severely allergic to pretty much everything I was tested for. As soon as I left, I took benedryl. When I got home, I...
  24. Thank you Colleen. Yes, I am going to be tested for Celiac and for UC. I go for my consultation with a GI next week. In the meantime, I am trying to eat "normal" even though I pay for it.
