  1. Thanks for the reply. I think its obvious also that the reason the biopsy is negative now is because he followed the diet so carefully and it was working. On the first biopsy he also had in addition to the compatible with celiac dx something called Mild Foveolar Metaplasia which indicates inflamation - this was gone on the second biopsy also. I am anxious...
  2. I posted a couple of weeks ago that my husband had a biopsy positive for celiac and negative blood work so the doctors decided he didn't have celiac and wanted him to do a gluten challange and redo the endoscopy. He had been on the gluten free diet for 7 weeks and they had him eat a regular diet for 5 days prior to the biopsy. Well suprise suprise I emailed...
  3. Has anyone ever had a reaction to the Dunkin Donuts Original Blend Coffee. (The kind that is prepackaged and you brew it at home.) My husband had some today for the first time and he has been sick all afternoon. They state that its gluten free on dedicated lines and I went in a purchased it so he didn't have to even go in the store. I'm wondering if it...
  4. Hi. I can't offer much help on the little guys but I have read that short stature or not thriving is a symptom of celiac in children. Have you read any of the post in the forum "Parents of Children with Celiac Disease"? That might help answer many of your questions while your waiting on someone more informed to answer. Good Luck with your testing your...
  5. Hi Joe. I can't offer any input on the Enterloab testing reliability but there is a thread going right now under "Doctors" titled "Wary ...." and it's all about the Enterloab testing. You might want to check that out. Jennifer
  6. Hi celiac3270. I would love a copy of the list when you get a minute. Thank you soooo much. Please send it to flmx88@comcast.net Jennifer
  7. Hi. My husband is 33 years old and he has been sick since June. He has many of the same symptoms as you with 44 lb. weight loss to date. His main symptoms are the fatigue, nausea, bloating, and burping. His blood work was negative but he had a positive biopsy. He started the gluten-free diet after that and was starting to notice some improvement in his...
  8. My husband just finished a gluten challenge for a endoscopy biopsy. His doctor only had him do the challenge for 1 week. (I tried to tell the dr. what I have read about eating equiv. of 2-3 pieces of bread per day for 3 months but it went in one ear and out the other.) Honestly 1 week was more than enough for us to know that the gluten was hurting him....
  9. My husband gets a pain in his chest area on the right side (near the center of the breast bone) kind of on his peck mucscle (what's left of it ). It gets worse when he's doing something and lets up if he goes & lays down. I was worried at first that he was having heart trouble but that was ruled out with the full cardiac work up. He said it feels...
  10. I realize this post is old but in case anyone needs to know I called Pharmacia Consumer Health 1-800-382-7219 (the maker's of Dramamine) on 10/7/2005 to find out if it was gluten-free. They confirmed the product to be gluten-free & offered to mail me some coupons. I did call about a specific product & that is the only one she verified so I don't...
  11. Thanks again for all the replies to my comments. Yes we have made the house totally gluten-free (to the best of our knowledge). Our son & I went on the gluten-free diet as well - I told our son that he could have gluten foods outside of the house but in the house its all gluten-free. He was totally in agreement with this becuase he wants his daddy...
  12. It may also be that your tonsils have something like craters in them that catch food particles and the form hard white spots that will eventually fall out. I saw a Ear Nose & Throat specialist for this problem. Mine only happens on the left tonsil. It is harmless he told me to gargle daily with mouth wash and to NOT try and scrape or remove the spots...
  13. Kati - Thanks for the reply. Shane is having the test redone because the doctors felt he should have had a complete recovery by now if it was actually celiac. He was not by any means back to his old self but he was much better than before starting the diet. Before the diet he was barely able to get off the couch. He wasn't going anywhere. He would be...
  14. My husband (Shane) has been on a gluten-free diet for 7 weeks. He had an endoscopy with a biopsy compatible with celiac sprue but negative bloodwork. We went from dr. to dr. trying to get a dx because we were not told about the biopsy results. The dr he is seeing now wants to do a repeat endoscopy & colonoscopy himself and wants him back on a gluten...

    ARCHIVED False Negative?

My husband also had negative bloodwork and a biopsy that was compatible with sprue. He has a lot of symptoms for celiac or at least gluten intolerance. I am very nervous about this because the doctors are saying its not celiac or gluten intolerance because the blood test are negative, but as mentioned above with a positive biopsy and a good reaction to...
  16. Thanks for the replies. It is actually my husband who has the slighlty enlarged spleen. It showed up on his U/S from this week. It said slightly enlarged. The GI didn't seem concerned, he has not had mono, but he is still undx. I thought I had read that gallbladder, pancreas, & spleen issuse are related to Celiac and Gluten Intolerance. Just one...
  17. Thank you for the replies. Yes he did notice some improvement on the diet but as mentioned 7 weeks is not a lot of time, especially considering how long it takes to educate yourself on gluten. Last nite he started the "gluten challenge" and he felt really bad and is still feeling bad today. He said it made him very nauseous and tired, he siad he just felt...
  18. Has anyone had an ultrasound report with a slightly enlarged spleen? Thanks, Jennifer
  19. I am new to posting on this site but I have been reading and learning here for about a month. My husband has been very ill for several months. He has seen several doctors and the stories that go with those are nightmares I won't take up space with. His symptoms are as follows: Nausea, Diar (that comes & goes), Weight Loss (40 pounds since June), Bloating...
