  1. Hi Rachel. My husband took the Metronidazole also and he was sick the entire time he took it. He actually took it two different times (for bacterial overgrowth - which he didn't have), the first time he couldn't finish it and the second time he finished it but was sooooo sick. I also called the manufacturer before he took it and verified that it was gluten...
  2. Hi Judy. I used Corn Oil to fry mine. My husband is gluten-free/sf/cf so I can't use the regular vegetable oil. I'm sure Canola oil would be just fine. Jennifer
  3. My husband ate the Van's waffles several months ago and he got sick feeling from them too. He also ate the Kettle Chips (salt & vineager flavor and the black pepper flavor). I was under the impression they were gluten free also. Actually they are gluten free but as mentioned above when I went on the web site it said they weren't recommended for people...
  4. Hi. I understand how scared you are but you are doing the right thing by seeking a dx. I was scared to death when my husband first got sick and I just drove myself crazy thinking they would find stomach or colon cancer when he went in for his biopsy. They were actually looking for cancer at this time, they never even mentioned or considered Celiac. So...
  5. Hi. I'm assuming your new to Celiac and wondering how long until you will be feeling better and hoping to find some comfort in others stories so I'll share mine (which is actually my husbands). He has been sick since last June. Now that we think back though we realized that he was very tired and having a lot of his symptoms (just not as obvious or as constant...
  6. I found this recipe in a new book I bought the other day. My husband and son loved them and they were really easy to make. Ingredients 3/4 cup cornstarch 2/3 cup potato starch 1/3 cup sugar 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 egg 1/3 cup milk (I used Almond Milk - due to also being casein free) 1 teaspoon xanthan gum 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons...
  7. Thanks Rachel. I have never seen a rally's around here but I have seen many products by Nature Made so I'm going to see if the Health Food Store I shop at can order them (if they don't have them in stock I've never noticed). I'm glad to hear they are refridgerated. I read somewhere that the better probiotics have to be refridgerated and I can't find where...
  8. Rachel - Which grocery store did you find the Primadophilos Reuteri at? Is it liquid or capsule? Does it have to be refridgerated? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks. Jennifer
  9. I don't have any recommendation for sauces but I am interested in finding one also. I don't mind the spicy but I need to have one that is gluten-free/cf. A lot of the recipies I've seen call for the hot sauce mixed with one stick of melted butter. Jennifer
  10. My husband can't handle much meat either, especially red meat and pork. Chicken and fish seem to be the easiest. I'll have to try the organic meats and see if that helps. He can't handle hot dogs at all, I figured it must have something to do with all the processing and other ingredients. He also had his gallbladder out last August before he was dx with...
  11. Thanks for the suggestions. He has been using Phenergan for the nausea when its at its worst and won't let up but he hates to take anything that he doesn't absoulutely have to. I'm going to give some of these suggestions a try and see if they help. Thanks again. Jennifer
  12. My husbands doctor checked his testosterone levels in a routine check and they came back kind of on the low normal side. He rechecked them a week later and they were ok, but he has been monitoring them to see if that was just a one time fluke. He also did a PSA test to check for levels that are put off if you have prostate cancer and he did a prostate exam...
  13. I use the Jet Puffed Marshmallows because they are made by Kraft. Jennifer
  14. Is it normal to still be very nauseous at 3 1/2 months gluten free? How many of you are still suffering with this? My husband is still suffering from nausea several times a week, which is better than it used to be which was everyday most of the day so he has seen some improvement with it. Removed casein, soy and peanuts from the diet also. Any comments...
  15. Thanks for the update. I have been following the thread about the paper towels and plates. Jennifer
  16. I always request (insist if neccesary) a copy of any and all test and/or bloodwork. I don't trust the results to the doctor. I read them myself and look up anything I'm not sure about. When my husband was first dx with Celiac it was months after the biopsy came back as positive because the doctor who did the endoscopy told us it was negative and I didn...
  17. My husband also gets B12 injections. His levels were low also (under the normal range) and he had normal iron levels also. He has recently had increased liver enzymes in his last bloodwork. He is getting the injections now once monthly he was getting them biweekly. The doctor said his levels were coming up now but he wants him to continue with the injections...
  18. Thanks Jen. These are great. You always have the most informative links to share. Jennifer
  19. Jenvan - Thanks for those last links. Great info. I printed those out for the dr. to go along with the first info you posted. How long were your enzymes up? Let us know how your report looks when you hear. I'll say a prayer that your levels are returned to normal. I appreciate all your informative posts. Jennifer
  20. Hi. My husband was diagnosed last August and I was very overwhelmed too. Take it one day at a time and it will all slowly sink in. This board was a life saver for us. There is soooo much information on here that will help you to figure this all out. The best advice I got in the very begining was to stick to plain and simple foods instead of trying to...
  21. Jenvan - Thanks so much for posting that link. I'm printing it out to take to the Dr. when we go. He doesn't know a lot about Celiac but he listen's and is very open to any research I can give him or tell him about. It helps my nerves to know that its common (even though I want to have all the test done to be sure - better safe than sorry). It seems like...
  22. Hi Rachel. My husband was tested for the H. Pylori by a blood test when he first got sick and it came back negative. When his GI doctor did his endoscopy biopsy they also checked for H. Pylori on the biopsy and it was negative then also. So I guess there are several ways they can check for that. My step dad had H. Pylori a few years ago and it made him...
  23. Tracy, Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping when he goes back in 6 weeks that it will all have resolved itself. Good luck with the diet and I hope your results continue to improve. Jennifer
