  1. Candy, Where were you bleeding from? I know that sounds quite random but I had a horrible time with nosebleeds for a long time after going gluten free that no one can really explain. If the vitamin K works for you I would love to know because I probably spend more money on tissues than you do on vitamins!
  2. Hello everyone, I didn't know where else to post this but I guess this is the best place. I am 18 years old and have been very sick with Celiac for the past 3 years. Although I maintain a very strick gluten free and mostly dairy free diet, I cannot seem to get my symptoms under control. Also, I recently have developed a very rare and dangerous neurological...
  3. I went out to lunch today at Baja Fresh and had a really great meal! They have a new item on the menu, chicken taquitos, and they are to die for. The lunch plate came with 4 taquitos, rice, and beans and chips as an appetizer. It was a great portion size and I had absolutely no problem. I would highly recommend it! This was the Baja Fresh in Pentagon...
  4. I had to share this with everyone because it was a wonderful find. The other day, my mother (who does not have Celiac) was looking through the Washington Post's Food section which had an article on gluten free baking. While rooting around the paper, she found that a local restaurant, Chima Steakhouse in Tysons Corner, is hosting a gluten free dinner! The...
  5. Thanks Steve, I haven't thought of that, but I will look into it. Currently the only relief I get is from going to acupuncture, the best hour of my life. Thanks to all for the support, I really appreciate it!
  6. Hello all, Well i hate to sound whiney in my first post in this section, but seeing that i am the only Celiac in my family and i know no one who has Celiac, i feel very alone sometimes!! I was diagnosed almost three years ago and it was the best thing i ever did. I had been sick for months, lost close to 15 pounds but looked like i had gained close to...
  7. I know what you are talking about. I started competitively diving when i was in the 7th grade and lifted/ran/stretched everyday combined with a 3 hour practice and pretty much all i ate was pasta or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I was diagnosed with Celiac in the beginning of my junior year of highschool after being very sick over the summer. I lost...
  8. So JMU now has a new program at their school to help students with Celiac. Once a month, all the students with food allergies come to a meeting with the dining hall staff to put together an order list of special food for the month and plan special meals (like fried chicken, homemade mac and cheese, cherry cobbler, and french toast to name a few). Everyday...
  9. So I read a post about Wawa's iced coffee so I had to start my own. I was so happy to find a place that served iced coffee for less than $2.00 compared to the $4.00-$5.00 I usually had to pay at Starbucks. Sadly, both times I drank the coffee, I got sick (and really smart me tried them for two days in a row ). It wasn't as awful as some of my reactions...
  10. Yes i did, i had the same problem not only with my doctor but with my parents. I started getting sick after i recovered from a knee dislocation and surgery. I was sick every day and had to spend most of my time after i ate lying down to keep from puking. I told my mom i wasnt feeling well and she did the "give it time" lesson. When i went for my school...
