I am a huge chicken salad fan but do it the cheap way and use canned chicken when I don't have chicken breasts on hand. But here is my recipe for quick chicken salad. 1 can chicken- drained mayonaise (i usually use miracle whip, but whatever floats your boat) half an apple (granny smith goes well, but anything that has a little tartness to it) celery...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Food For Kids In The Outer Banks Of Nc?
Kylie replied to 3groovygirls's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Good news on the gluten free front in OBX. I was just there this weekend and for the first time stopped at the health-o-rama (around mile post 2 or so). They had a great section of gluten free things! I had some wonderful wraps and burger buns that looked normal and all of my non celiac family wanted to try (they usually just make fun of my food). We... -
I've been given things with crutons before, I just send it back. Sometimes they even take off the charge because they feel bad for doing it even after getting me a new salad. I have no problem sending food back now so that it's right.

I LOVE Chili's. My boyfriend and I eat there all the time when I am at school. They have the most amazing baked potato soup that is gluten free and I totally cheat on my dairy allergy once a month to eat it. They also have a gluten free summer vinigarette which is great and so I get the soup and salad combo and am a very happy camper!

ARCHIVED gluten-free Food For Kids In The Outer Banks Of Nc?
Kylie replied to 3groovygirls's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hey! Someone else who knows where Manteo is! My family and I have a house there and vacation often. I am in cahoots with everyone else on here, the food lion is the best. Whenever we are over on that side we make a trip to pick up cereal and all sorts of other gluten free goodies. They have quite a large section. Also, on Manteo the little grocery store... -
ARCHIVED Rice, Corn, And Honey Nut Chex
Kylie posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I added this to the end of someone else's post about Chex, but I had to add it here as well. I was so excited in the store the other day when I saw the boxes, I called my Mom immediately to tell her. I am the only Celiac in the family, and no one was excited like I was. Hopefully I'll find a more excited crowd here! A chex heads up...Rice, Corn, and... -
ARCHIVED Rice Chex Recipes
Kylie replied to Worriedtodeath's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
A chex heads up...Rice, Corn, and Honey Nut chex are now all gluten free!!!! I am munching on a box of honey nut ones at the moment. For the honey nut chex, they took out the barley malt and replaced it with molassas and the corn chex I believe was replaced with rice malt. The front of the box now says gluten free and the back of the box has a wonderful... -
Hi, So I have a random question. I was reading somewhere the other day (some other post on the forum) about complications from Celiac and birth control. I was reading that someone was worried about how effective her birth control would be if she got glutened. There was also talk about after a glutening if the stomach would still absorb the medication...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free And Having Some Strange Symptoms
Kylie replied to hannahp57's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
A switch from one birth control to another could have led to a little slip up in protection, I would definately take a test to be sure. As for the dairy, yes it can occasionally bother you and some things may bother you more than others. I have a horrible time with ice cream but can eat yogurt occasionally, and sometimes some days are worse than others... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free And Having Some Strange Symptoms
Kylie replied to hannahp57's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My first question would be do you still eat dairy? We are the same age and have had Celiac for the same amount of time, and to this day, I can still not do dairy. I would first suggest that you cut that out. The same thing happened to me this summer, and I thought it could be linked it to a shrimp allergy. I had to do the whole allergist route and in... -
I was diagnosed with Celiac 4 years ago and had a horrible time pre and post diagnosis. I had horrible GI symptoms, not any true DH symptoms per say. I have had sensitive skin my entire life; I can only put two things on my skin- petroleum jelly and hemps lotion made from Hemp. Other than that, I will break out in a horrible rash that just burns all over...

Hi everyone, I just had to stop in and share my experience about the wonderful gluten free time I had at Disney World. I know that summer is coming and vacation time is near, and it is always a stressful decision for my family and I to go anywhere and wonder if I will be able to eat anything. We had these wonders about going to Disney World and were...

ARCHIVED Amusement Park With Gluten-free Food
Kylie replied to exsandohs163's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Speaking of amusement parks, I just have to share my experiences with Disney World. I had some of the best gluten free dining experiences while on vacation. The first day I ate in the Magic Kingdom. My family and I went to a burger joint and I fully expected to eat a burger with no bun and no fries on the side. Low and behold, I was very very wrong. ... -
ARCHIVED Trying To Decide If Scd Is Right For Me
Kylie posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hello everyone, I have recently heard about the SCD from the living without magazine and am trying to decide if it would be a good idea for me to try. I have been 100% (well probably 99.9% for accidental ingestion) gluten free for 3 years now; however, I still have celiac like symptoms. I know that there is no CC and I check food labels religiously,... -
Woodchuck cider is the best, I absolutely love the stuff. You can pretty much order it at any bar, and it is carried in most grocery stores and ABC stores. I've tried the Redbridge gluten free beer, its ok, but I'll stick to woodchuck.

Hello all, I posted to Scott the other day that I feel like there should be a young adults section on here. I feel that at 19 I am too old to be discussing some things in this forum with others as young as 13 and 14. I feel like there are issues that could be raised in a young adult crowd related to college life and what not that deserves a specific...

I love coming to gluten free forum for help with my celiac questions, but have lately found that I can't find a good section to post them in. At 19, I feel as if my issues are too old for the teenagers section, but there isn't another age related section to post it in. I do not know who to ask to see if it is possible to have a young adults section added...

ARCHIVED Really Painful Dry Skin Every Time This Year!
Kylie replied to mr. moore's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Unless you have DH form of celiac, I think it is just classic winter dry skin. I have dry skin all year round from being in a pool so much, but in the winter it gets really bad, especially on my hands. I know its girly, but if you take a basin of warm water, put in baby oil, and soak your hands, it will help a lot. It works like a charm for me, better... -
Hello everyone, Everywhere I go these days I see the cutest kits for making gingerbread houses, and I want to make one too! Does anyone have any good recipes for gingerbread cookies that would hold up to building and also, does anyone know of any molds or pans that are in the house shape? It may not be as easy as the kit, but I am determined to make...

OK so this is for the girls only. I was diagnosed with celiac when I was 16 years old but was very sick for about a year leading up to it. Before I was diagnosed I stopped going through puberty. My period became very irregular after being regular since I was 12. I stopped growing breast tissue, stopped gaining weight, the whole nine yards. Once I was...

ARCHIVED Relationship W/ A "non-gluten-free" Person
Kylie replied to ashylu929's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm with DarkIvy, my boyfriend and I have been together for the past 2 years but have known each other since we were in middle school. He was there for me as a friend during the whole transition and even dated me after! The guilt is a thing I used to deal with too. No one else in my family is gluten free and neither are any of my friends, I always felt... -
Personally, I miss my wheat. I am italian and grew up eating pasta, pasta, a little bread, and then some more pasta. I never was a big on eating out, so I don't miss the fast food (except maybe fresh krispy kreams). I do miss taking part in family traditions that center around traditional food that I just have not been able to make gluten free. I also...

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone else who had celiac had any other sort of neurological disorder. I have, well it has many names, RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy or Reflex Neurovascular Dystrophy) also known as CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome). RSD is a neurological condition that makes the body unable to interpret signals and so the body...

Hi everyone! I just had to share this. I work at the new CakeLove in Tysons Corner, VA and am pleased to annouce that they have gluten free cupcakes everyday and gluten free cakes for order! I spoke with the baker in charge of the gluten free line, have eaten them many times at work, and got my birthday cake from there. They are wonderful! I am hoping...

I don't, because even a minimal amount that may not make you sick will do some damage. I worked out a system with my priest that I go up with the eucharistic ministers and stand off to the side and receive the wine from a different cup. And if I'm late and didn't let the priest know I was there, I pray extra hard because I'm sure God understands.
