  1. My son, who is 4, has diagnosed celiac and I just had genetic testing done on his little sister who was born in April 2015. I'm waiting for my son's GI to call me back but wanted to know other's experiences with these test results: -Alleles detected: DQA1*01: ARSW, 02:01; DQB1*02:YE, 06:ZKVB Positive, one copy for DQB1:02:01/02:02 All...

  3. We depart for our annual family vacation in 2 weeks and I'm trying to prep appropriately for my son. The last time we went on this trip he was not yet diagnosed. We will be in the car for approximately 10 hours traveling north. I am VERY hesitant to trust a restaurant, especially while traveling as the last thing I want for him is to be glutened and...
  4. Are there any celiac moms in Northern NJ? If so, I would love to maybe meet up! I have a 3.5 year old who was diagnosed in summer 2014.
  5. My attitude is only I am responsible for my son and his food. I never expect other parents to provide him with gluten-free options (and honestly, I don't trust most of it anyway). He always has his own snack and I would provide a snack for the team as well on my days.
  6. Yes, you need to see someone new! Our pediatric GI has us come in every 6 months for weight/height checks and yearly blood work.
  7. This post is so reassuring. We are one year gluten free and while my almost three year old has grown, he's still incredibly small for his age. He's noticeably smaller than his classmates and just wearing 2T stuff. We go in for our one year appointment a week from today and I'm so anxious about it. We did our bloodwork last Friday so hoping for great results...
  8. I wanted to update everyone that I had my son's gastro look at my lab results and I do carry a gene. She explained that the way the labs report things makes it very confusing for people to read, including doctors that aren't gastros. In this case, my primary care didn't read the report as well as a gastro did and said I was negative. If anyone else is...
  9. Yes, they did the full genetic test on both of us.
  10. I definitely do not feel comfortable with regular play-doh and there are strict orders at my son's school that he not play with it. He was gifted with this this Christmas: Open Original Shared Linkand we love it! I actually like it more than normal play doh as it smells delish!
  11. Thanks all. I certainly didn't mean to offend re: my bubble comment! I just know for our family, we love to eat out and travel and it simply won't always be possible to cook at home. We do go out 90% less now and will broach the travel thing when the time comes. My son was back to normal the next day once he hydrated and got everything out of his body...
  12. My 2.5 year old was diagnosed this past summer with celiac. I've always had major stomach issues, so I immediately got the full blood panel which shockingly to me, came back negative. I don't have active celiac, nor the gene for it. My husband just got his panel back and like me, is completely negative. I'm surprised by these results as I know celiac...
  13. My son is 2.5 and was diagnosed right before his 2nd birthday after constantly throwing up, low energy, not growing, etc. The past 7 months have been life changing and we've seen huge improvements! Unfortunately, I think tonight he was glutened. We went to a local restaurant that we've been to plenty with him and got him a gluten-free meal which I think...
  14. Thanks to you all who answered my post two months ago when my son was diagnosed. We immediately stopped gluten and the changes have been truly amazing - he's gained 3.5 pounds in 8 weeks, has SO much more energy, eats a ton and is just so happy. This is a bit of a TMI topic, but I feel like someone may have some insight! Before the diagnosis, his stools...
  15. Thanks to everyone for their words. My son's blood tests came back today and the doctor was able to 100% diagnose him as his levels were so high. He has now been gluten free for a week and the changes have been immense. The biggest one is he hasn't thrown up! His energy leves are up (at times) and his appetite seems to have increased. I'm so thankful...
  16. Thanks so much everyone. We are in an area with a leading children's hospital and our gastro does not feel an endoscopy/biopsy is necessary. The blood work thus far was glaring and she has ordered further tests for the genetic screen and a few other things to absolutely confirm, but said she'd be shocked if it came back negative. I am excited to start...
  17. My son will be 2 in September and three weeks ago he started vomiting. It would come out of no where, he would vomit and instantly feel better. Since then, he's been throwing up every 1 - 2 days, been lethargic and just not himself. He's always been small but his weight is dropping and his belly is a little swollen. I had bloodwork done for him this week...
