ARCHIVED Still Have Constant Gas While On Gluten-Free Diet
egger replied to egger's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That's a revelation. Isn't xanthan gum in many gluten-free products (at least the packaged stuff)? -
ARCHIVED Still Have Constant Gas While On Gluten-Free Diet

I have been eating more cheese here. I am going to see if cutting the cheese (no pun intended) helps. -
ARCHIVED Still Have Constant Gas While On Gluten-Free Diet
egger posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have taken a blood test and skin prick test to see if I was allergic to milk and dairy, but it came back negative. I don't know if these tests are also good for lactose intolerance. I have been on a gluten-free diet for a year so far. Gas seemed to subside until the past month when I traveled out of town for work. It has been a very stressful job. But,... -
ARCHIVED Extra Wide Stools, Then Extra Long Stools
egger replied to egger's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't think it's an issue with toilets. Something's wrong with my stools since I seem to be the only one in family who clogs the toilet. I know I don't eat enough fiber so maybe it's due to that. But, I read a news story how a child clogged the toilet at elementary school and her teacher made her try to unclog it herself. Her parents complained to the school... -
ARCHIVED Extra Wide Stools, Then Extra Long Stools
egger posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
While I was eating gluten, my stools were often round and wide like a baseball. After I stopped eating gluten, my stools became more thin, but extra long (long as a ruler or longer since I can't see all the way down the toilet hole. Whether a stool is too wide or too long, ti clogs the toilet. I don't know if it is normal for stools to be extra long. I have... -
ARCHIVED See-Through Scalp In Frontal Crown Area
egger posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Does anyone have see-through scalp just in bang area/frontal crown area? I don't know if you call it alopecia since there is still hair there, but very little of it compared to rest of head. Could this be caused by celiac disease. I have always been more thin there, but it became more se-through the older I got. I am hoping this is due to celiac disease although... -
ARCHIVED Is This A Huge Issue?
egger replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The camera capsule test was no problem except for using laxatives to empty yourself the day before as with a colonoscopy. I have also been on a gluten-free diet for a year, but a recent blood test still shows inflammation in my body. SO, I am thinking inflammation or damage in my intestines still might be there. I was thinking about doing a follow-up camera... -
ARCHIVED Is This A Huge Issue?
egger replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I swallowed the camera capsule instead of doing the endoscopy. Although it does not show inflammation like an endoscopy biopsy, it still shows damage to your intestines that you get from celiac disease. I know my damage took a while to heal and is still healing. So, perhaps a camera capsule will still show damage although you recently started a gluten-free... -
Did you have anxiety before your diagnosis and did it go away after time on a gluten-free diet?

ARCHIVED 1 Year On Gluten Free Diet, But Still Have Inflammation
egger replied to egger's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Many packaged gluten-free are more fattening, but it doesn't matter if your intestines are not healed. I was the same weight on gluten-free diet until 6 or 7 months later when I gradually gained weight up to 10 lbs. Everyone is different in the healing process, though. -
ARCHIVED 1 Year On Gluten Free Diet, But Still Have Inflammation
egger posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Is it common to still have inflammation in body after 1 year on gluten-free diet? I have gone through decades with undiagnosed celiac disease. My hair is still falling out. -
ARCHIVED Still Bloated On Gluten-Free Diet
egger replied to egger's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I read how someone with celiac disease was invited by Taco Bell to try or test the new Cantina bowl when it first came out. I do not remember if it was McDonalds or Burger King. I read that the breakfast sausage was gluten free. One day I only ordered a breakfast sausage. I had a long, car trip and the worst abdominal pain of my life. It was horrible... -
I read somewhere that everyone with celiac disease is born with it, but it varies when symptoms start (perhaps when the intestines, nerves, etc. become damaged). You have had this a long time undiagnosed and lived on carbs meaning more damage probably happened than if you were on a low-carb diet. I have also never gained weight. It was not until 6 months...

ARCHIVED Still Bloated On Gluten-Free Diet
egger posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I still get bloated like I am pregnant while on a gluten-free diet. This is the only thing I had time to eat today since I was on the run all day: -Taco Bell Cantina Bowl (chicken option). It includes marinated chicken, rice, romaine lettuce, guacamole, pico de gallo, avocado ranch dressing, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and black beans. - Taco Bell nachos... -
ARCHIVED My Hair Is A Mess From Gluten-Free Conditioners!
egger posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have fine hair texture so my hair gets more damaged when I dye it. I also have naturally frizzy hair. I've tried some of the gluten-freen hair conditioners that had good reviews, but my hair still feels dry and brittle after use. Some even make my hair static. The ones that have better reviews also have bad reviews stating it leaves a film in your hair... -
ARCHIVED Lightheadedness
egger posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've dealt with severe lightheadedness and brain fog before my celiac diagnosis. I've been on a gluten-free diet for almost a year. However, I still feel lightheaded. It's not as severe as it was, but it's still there or limits my life. Could I still be having this symptom because my intestines are not yet healed, which may still be causing dehydration... -
ARCHIVED Mom Cooks Gluten Food And Gluten-Free Food In Same Oven
egger posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My mom doesn't like the taste of gluten-free flour so she will make two recipes (breads, etc)- one with gluten flour in it for her and one with gluten-free flour in it for me. I told her that I don't think gluten and gluten-free recipes should be cooked in the oven at the same time. She doesn't want to go through hassle of cooking them separately, though...
