  1. Hey Feeneyja, I haven't. How do I get tested? nvsmom, no problem!
  2. Thanks very much for the replies! JazzyJake, that name is extremely appropriate for this diet! I haven't take any PPIs, so my polyp is a mystery, but my doctor isn't concerned and he said they generally go away by themselves (they are different from colon polyps which can turn cancerous, apparently). I think it is an indication that I was having...
  3. Hey nvsmom, thanks for the reply. My thyroid has been tested a number of times, so I don't think that's an issue, although I haven't had it tested recently so I will. I didn't experience as much constipation on the gluten challenge for the first fews months, but towards the end and especially now it's ridiculous and nothing really helps! I'm not sure...
  4. Hello everybody! So I went on the gluten challenge for nearly 3 months, and ended up with negative blood tests and biopsy (only 4 biopsies were taken unfortunately). I reacted really badly to the diet though, and although my gastroenterologist couldn't say 100% it was gluten (as opposed to say, fructose malabsorption), he advised I go gluten free. ...
  5. Hey everyone, thanks for the responses. A doctor thought it might actually be my ovary and sent me for an ultrasound which should that everything looked okay except that I'm close to ovulating. Couldn't see my appendix and obviously could still be colon, but the pain is gone for now! Ali, sounds like my GPs. I'm in Australia and I can't find one I'm happy...
  6. It usually comes and goes but at the moment it is there constantly. It's also incredibly tender when I press on that region (around where my right ovary or appendicitis would be). My gastroenterologist thinks it is still a gluten problem. Sucks about your situation I haven't found a GP who really cares about finding answers for me. My specialist is great...
  7. Hello all. I've been on the gluten challenge, and reacted very badly, but fortunately (as far as tests/biopsy says) I do not have celiac disease. Anyway, since being off gluten for about a week, I still have really bad digestion. Typical malabsorption stools etc etc, and now constipated (slow/virtually non-functioning digestive system...). For many...
  8. Thank you so much for your responses! It definitely cleared it up for me. I'm awaiting my biopsy result but I've most definitely had concerning symptoms (as stated), so I just wondered if this HAD to be the result of intestinal damage, i.e. celiac or Crohn's. I wasn't sure if non-celiac gluten intolerance could do this also - it does make me wonder how...
  9. Strange idea. The longest eyelashes are generally seen in people of darker complexions in countries where celiac disease is less prevalent, while northern Europeans have a high prevalence of celiac and aren't so blessed in the eyelash/lush hair department... (I am of Finnish heritage, I wish I had eyelashes !)
  10. Hello everyone. Just a quick question! Is it possible to experience fat malabsorption and/or vitamin and mineral deficiencies WITHOUT some form of intestinal damage? (Assuming your dietary intake is normal). Thanks very much. ETA: Particularly B12, iron and magnesium. I seem to always get deficient unless supplementing heavily...
  11. I will definitely do that, thanks. I had a look at some websites of Australian pathology labs and they definitely have DGP tests and AGA tests as North America does... hmm...
  12. Thank you very much nvsmom. I am having a biopsy in a fortnight. I will definitely request those tests! ETA: Does anyone know if all of these tests are available in Australia? It also says on my results that the AGA IgG result is the "deaminated gliadin peptide igG antibody".... is that the AGA test or DGP?
  13. Hello everyone! I've received my blood test results after being on the gluten challenge, it seems they are negative. I do have a question though regarding the tests done - there is no AGA - IGA as I have seen on some other tests.. is this important? Results: IGG 9.10 g/L (7.0-16.0) IGA 1.69 g/L (0.7-4.0) IGM 1.39 g/L (0.4-3.0)...
  14. Hello everyone! I'm currently on the gluten challenge (have been for about 10 weeks as I couldn't get a biopsy appointment earlier) and was wondering about celiac disease and weight issues. I find out the results of my celiac panel next week. Anyway, I have almost always been the same weight. I'm not slim, but I'm not overweight either. My BMI is...
