  1. Suppose bread crumbs fall into the silverware drawer. When you pick out your spoon, there are no crumbs attached. Is that spoon contaminated due to only molecules of gluten that could cling to the surface? Another crumb (and maybe dumb) question. Suppose there are bread crumbs on one end of a stick of butter. The other end is crumb-free. Is that end...
  2. Yes, I wondered why my doctor did not order blood tests to rule out the typical vitamin deficiencies when I was diagnosed. I especially wonder now since other symptoms are improving, but not the fatigue. Also a Dexa scan, since the last one, three years ago, showed osteopenia, and the one before that actual osteoporosis. You are right that we should feel...
  3. I am getting close to three weeks post-diagnosis and gluten-free and am seeing some positive changes, while some concerns are still fully present. On the plus side (very plus!) my migraines have improved dramatically. My digestive problems have improved as well. As long as I avoid certain intolerances, like dairy and sugar, and keep to a balanced diet...
  4. I was referred to a nutritionist and did not receive any information I did not already know. I kept the appointment because I hoped that I would get some help working an acid reflux and a non-gluten diet together without continuing to lose weight, but no help. Online research has been my chief source of info. Forums like this are great. Good luck!
  5. Yes, this happened to me after I was diagnosed and went gluten-free close to three weeks ago. I miss the fiber that wheat gave me (think two slices of Ezekial Bread every morning, now deleted). I am working on quinoa to replace that fiber and am going to try amaranth today. I think many of us became used to an irritated diarrhea-type situation and now...
  6. Wow, quite a few things I hadn't thought about (also newly diagnosed). Thank you.
  7. I can't tell you how glad I am to read these responses. Thank you! I feel like my diet is especially complicated because I am not only gluten-free, I am also on an anti-acid reflux diet AND eating around the intolerances I've developed. Today I went crazy and ate full-fat cottage cheese with only minor reflux, so I'm starting to feel a bit better? We...
  8. Thank you so much. It is super kind of you to post that comforting peach cobbler cake recipe. And hearing about how others have had the deep fatigue and ups and downs is reassuring. I am so glad you are all feeling better! I do have one more question, if that's OK. Are food intolerances damaging to the already celiac damaged intestine? I agree that...
  9. Thank you so much for your generous advice! It makes me feel less alone. I know I must have inherited this from someone, but I have no idea who, and all but one of the older generation is gone now. There are quite a few people I know that are sensitive to gluten to some degree, but from what I gather celiac is a whole different story. It seems to me they...
  10. Hello, glad to have found this forum. I was diagnosed day before yesterday, after two months of gastritis/esophagitis, not responsive to ppis. I have had bloating since I was a young adult (62 now), also migraines and some degree of fatigue and anxiety. I had an upper endoscopy with biopsies of stomach and throat, but no small intestine celiac biopsy...
