I would like everyone to know that Boston, MA is extremely celiac friendly. There wasn't a restaurant that didn't have a gluten free menu and MOST all of those had a dedicated fryer/section of the kitchen to prepare your gluten free choices. I had a great vacation!

Wow! wait until I show this very good review of gluten free Boston to my husband tonight! He will be so excited that I can actually have a normal vacation (or semi- sorta) Legal Seafoods is my #1 choice but a few of the others are very tempting too. Since my diagnosis, we rarely go out to eat. We used to go about once a week and since April we have gone...

In my research I told my husband last week that Legal Seafood had the best selection of gluten free entrees on the menu. I know it's not cheap but so far nothing I have purchased for this new way of life has been cheap. I also found these as eating out options: 1) Not your average Joe's; 2) Cafe de Boston 3) Dante 4) Myers & Chang 5) Davio's 6) Elephant...
  5. This is good to know! There is hope for healing. I have read and also been told that sometimes you don't heal or it takes a long time to heal. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Good question... someone had told be to avoid all grains at first but my nutritionist said that was not necessary. I am still in the learning phase so I am curious as to what the answer to your question will be.
  7. How long have you been gluten free? I have read it can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 months or longer before some get results..... I am trying to be optomistic.
  8. I was diagnosed April 30th. However, about three weeks prior I was told that I either had celiac or a sensativity to gluten according to my biopsy. The blood test confirmed Celiac. I started the gluten free the 8th of April right after he told me what the biopsy revealed. I have been eating pretty safe but the true test will be on my trip to Boston...
  9. Is there anyone else out there that has been diagnosed with Celiac (by surprise) that had no symptoms? To me it makes it harder to identify if I have accidentally ingested gluten. I went to a 4th of July party and almost everything prepared was gluten free. (good friends of mine!) I just don't know if anything was cross contaminated, etc......
  10. My husband will be fine with this but I am afraid we may forget from time to time until we get used to it. We just made 6 years married and still kind of honeymooners! lol
  11. Ok I think I understand the kissing part as far as waiting a few months.... I have a work trip planned in July and will be gone for 7 days. There is a whole foods store near the hotel and I will get a cooler for the room but I am sure we will have to go out to eat once or twice with the big wigs. I have done a lot of research and there are quite a few restaurants...
  12. I have been reading through a lot of these posts yesterday and today. I have very few symptoms, I don't get extremely ill if I accidentally eat something with gluten in it so it is hard for me to know for sure if a restaurant, etc..... didn't prepare the food properly, therefore I am not sure if I am receiving additional damage to my intestines. So on...
  13. I want to thank all of you for sharing.... I too am going on a trip, first long one since being diagnosed April. I went to New Orleans for a weekend trip and was please to find two restaurants that had gluten free menus and they were very accomadating. In case anyone is going to New Orleans- Dragos and Muriels are the restaurants. And I am so glad shiffy...
  14. I was told that both the biopsy and the blood work are needed for a proper diagnosis. Once my biopsy showed gluten enropathy the doctor ordered the Celiac and Celiac plus blood panel.
  15. I am glad I read this..... I had no idea that this would be an issue. I have few symptoms and the ones I have aren't bad but I do have damage in my intestines so I am trying for it to heal and this was very interesting. Thanks!
