  1. Sorry, I left out a comma. It was ITA, people ... as in 'I totally agree, people do that' etc. yes, thanks for explaining that, and sorry I took so long to respond myself
  2. Sorry for not writing back sooner, and I am so glad my post was helpful. ITA people don't understand how serious celiac disease is. That is a big problem, and I'm talking about doctors as well as family members! I tried to get celiac antibody tested before starting my own gluten-free diet (which I intended to try in order to provide help to my son, and see...
  3. My son was diagnosed with celiac at age 15. He had terrible bad breath for two or three years prior to his diagnosis. It was so noticeable, and he would try to use mouth wash all the time to deal with it. He also carried strong mints with him as well in a mostly unsuccessful effort to mask it. We spoke to his pediatrician and his dentist and nobody had any...
  4. I am sorry you have to wait so long to speak to the doctor. I’m also sorry you haven’t received more replies here. There’s info online about a study where they looked at people who had endoscopy findings like yours specifically the lymphocytosis. Sometimes, the patients were later diagnosed with celiac disease but other times the conclusion was it ca...
  5. Thank you for the compliments, Gemini. You made my day. I like your advice too! I second your advice on the eye drops. I need to use the preservative free ones for the most part, but I keep a bottle of the regular (with preservative) in my purse, because that's easier on the run. Physicsgirl, I hope you are finding the feedback helpful, and that...
  6. Hi Physicsgirl, I have a gluten sensitivity similar to yours. I've been trying to figure out details of mine for the last four (almost five) years. (By the way, I like your name, "physicsgirl" and I should have called myself "mathgirl" because that's my field). I have some suggestions for you, based on my experience. 1. Stick to a very strict gluten...
  7. I also noticed the dizziness after I went gluten free, but in my case it started when I attempted a gluten challenge. After the challenge I apparently became extremely sensitive to even trace gluten contamination. I am now on a super strict gluten-free diet and doing well (the cross contamination elimination diet I read about in a study by Dr. Fasano and...
  8. Hi Knitty Kitty, I looked through all my lab results, and I can't believe nobody ever tested my thiamin level. Thank you for the merck link. I will certainly add thiamin to my supplements, and I will post back to let you know if I notice any changes. I'm having an upsurge of symptoms now possibly because I am fighting a virus right now as well. I'm on zinc...
  9. Thank you very much, Wetcat. I hope you received your diagnosis quickly. Do you find you have to be extra careful about gluten cross contamination? I have read that with neuro problems related to gluten, one has to be extra careful. I wondered in part because I am being so careful now, and it does seem to be helping. I was on the gluten-free diet previously...
  10. Thank you to Bartful and to Ravenwoodglass for your helpful replies. I should have mentioned, I tested negative for TTg etc. only after having been gluten free for a year. So I think the negative was meaningless. Also, I was worked up for elevated prolactin in my early 20s (which I have since read could be a marker for active celiac). Also, my two...
  11. I wanted to add onto my earlier post with the additional info that the celiac disease possibility (as cause of my neurological signs and symptoms) was raised by two MS specialists -- at different MS centers -- one in NY and one out of state. It was at one of these centers I finally had a spinal tap that showed no o-bands. But both these neurologists suggested...
  12. Hi Everyone, I am new to these boards. I have been reading though and the information posted by others has been very helpful. Thank you to all of you but especially to Ravenwoodglass. Five years ago, one of my sons was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. While he was in the hospital, he was screened for celiac, and the blood tests came back positive. He...
  13. I'm curious, how low was your zinc level, if you don't mind sharing? Mine was recently tested and found to be low at 50, with reference range for normal starting at 60. I had some trouble with the supplements, as they made me sick. I am taking a lower dose than the prescribed amount since I couldn't keep the zinc down at the prescription dose.
