  1. I've no doubt that some doctors (and dentists) are like that. However, I tend to use my own alteration of Hanlon's Razor in these situations: never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by ignorance or laziness.
  2. Very blunt and good advice. Thanks.
  3. Err...I'd actually forgotten about the corn. I was thinking it was the cane juice OR the chocolate. That's what I was referring to in the above response to icelandgirl.
  4. Me too, but I seem to be reacting to a lot of things lately, so I can't say I'm surprised. I'm hoping I just reacted to the evaporated cane juice. At some point, I will try some cocoa or something and add in some other sweetener and see if I react to that. If I do...well, there are definitely worse things, but it's going to make compliance on this whole shebang...
  5. Oh really, now? I've been thinking celiac was rather unlikely since I've gotten such good results on the gluten-free diet. Should I push for an endoscopy/biopsy then?
  6. This is what I KNOW I'm intolerant to: 1) Gluten/Wheat (cutting it out reduced my symptoms by *pulls number from ass* 80%), 2) Corn (It caused mild gluten-like symptoms and asthma). This is what I THINK I'm intolerant to: 1) Wild Rice, 2) Kidney Beans 3) Evaporated Cane Juice or Chocolate Basically, after I've eaten corn, rice, and evaporated cane juice...
  7. I called my former doctor's office yesterday to get a copy of my last lab results because they never gave them to me. I'd scheduled an appointment at a new clinic and wanted to bring copies of all my lab work to the appointment. After I received it, I took a second look at my celiac panel and saw this: TTG IgA and Endomyosial IGA. *record scratch* Err....
  8. I had a reaction.
  9. OMG, you ladies are rockstars!!! Thank you so much for the quick responses! I might will go out and buy some safe chocolate after work today!
  10. Do any of you corn-sensitive peeps know of any chocolate brands that are gluten free and corn free? Please, I neeeeeeeed chocolate. Not only do I want a safe chocolate bar, but I also would like to get some baking chocolate chips and cocoa so I can bake myself some treats. I have read that Enjoy Life's baking chocolate chips and chocolate bars are definitely...
  11. Thanks for all the helpful info. I'm still not positive that I reacted to the calcium lactate because I could have been still reacting to the corn meal gluten-free cereal I'd had before, but I think I was over the corn meal already. Looking back on the last few months, I had a rash for over two weeks after I pulled off a band aid after a few hours (I'm...
  12. Sorry for the spam in this thread. I can't seem to edit my last post and add this. Turns out my issues towards the end were that I'm also sensitive to corn. Gluten-free cereal (made of corn meal) triggered the first reaction on Thursday. I triggered another one the next day by consuming orange juice with calcium lactate. If you came to this thread looking...
  13. All of this is new to me, so sorry for all the questions. It turns out that not only do I have bad reactions to gluten, but I also have a similar reaction to corn (found out when I ate a bowl of gluten-free cereal made of corn meal). The reaction is much milder though. I also might have had a reaction to orange juice, too! It had calcium lactate in it,...
  14. I don't know about a stiff neck, but the last time I experienced the numbness really bad, it had spread to my neck and half my face and lips. I'd actually gone gluten-free a couple of days before that, so luckily I don't know how bad it might have gotten. Please understand, I've only been gluten-free for a week, so take everything I'm saying with a grain...
  15. I had a really good day today. I felt perfectly fine actually, for the first time in....ages. I don't want to jinx this, but In case someone is reading this in the future looking for info, it took about a week of gluten-free eating for a lot of my symptoms to fade. The caveat is that I only experienced the worst of this for the last few months and I'm not...
  16. I JUST came here with this same problem (plus gastro issues and vitamin deficiencies). I tested negative for celiac, but did a gluten-free trial anyway when I realized all my symptoms came after eating wheat. I'm doing better now. Look up gluten ataxia and gluten neuropathy if you want more info.
  17. sarahluther: Thanks for your personal story and well wishes. I'm glad you're feeling better. bartful: Well, damn. Supposing this is a gluten issue, then I guess I should be glad that I'm having any sort of relief then and give it some time before I decide it has to be some other food causing my issues. I'm lactose intolerant, so I just assumed that this...
  18. sarahluther, thank you for responding. How long did it take for the numbness to go away? What kind of doctor did you go see? I've been going to a regular, family doctor, but I don't know if I should find another general doctor or some sort of specialist instead. mommida, thank you for responding, too. I do tend to have cold hands and feet unless I have my...
  19. I received my test results last week. I don't have celiac, but I know not everyone here is celiac. I thought perhaps someone else might have experienced the same issues. Has anyone else dealt with numbness and tingling in their hands, feet, and legs before going to gluten-free? How long did it take for it go away? Mine isn't due to low B12 like I thought...
  20. I think I figured out what a big part of my problem is!!! I spare you all the big lead-up. I had an asthma attack on Sunday. I didn't know I had asthma. Good thing I waited until MONDAY to see my doctor after it had gotten so bad that I thought I might be having a heart attack, so bad that I wasn't sure I'd make it the short walk from the bus to the doctor...
  21. I'm getting a blood test next week, but I don't think I have celiac. I hoped perhaps someone might have some ideas about what is wrong with me since you all seemed to have gone through a ton of docs! 1.5 years ago, my insomnia got bad (3-4 hours sleep each night). At 34, I became clumsy, bumping into things and falling down twice. My memory got worse. My...
