ARCHIVED Finally diagnosed
EasterLily replied to EasterLily's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My IBS symptoms have actually improved. I haven't had any diarrhea since going through withdraw 2 months ago. My Fibro has not improved. sadly. I've been having more flare ups lately, but my anxiety has been pretty bad so that may explain it. Even though I still have some bad days, my stomach has felt so much better. My bad days are not that bad really. I... -
ARCHIVED Finally diagnosed
EasterLily posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello everyone. It's been awhile since I was last on here. I finally had my appointment with my GI. He said it's definitely not Celiac, but probably Non-Celiac Gluten sensitivity. He said I don't have to be as anal as I have been but as long as the gluten free diet is making me feel better, than stay on it. He said the difference between Celiac and Non Celiac... -
Hello everyone. I have an appointment with my GI on May 10. I was just wondering what I should be looking for in a good GI to help treat the gluten sensitivity. This way I can decide after the appointment if I want to continue seeing him or look elsewhere. I am already seriously considering changing my regular physician after 32 years. He joined a much larger...

EasterLily replied to Integrous's topic in Doctors
Did you ever find a dietitian? I am in Southern Chester County (Boarder line of PA and DE) and I have decided to see a nutritionist. Thanks -
ARCHIVED Food.. where to start?
EasterLily replied to Doublejump's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello Doublejump. I feel your pain. I have been wearing sweatpants for 5 weeks due to the bloating being so bad. Today I was able to wear a pair of stretchy jeans. I was so excited. But I ate dinner and now I need to get back into my sweats. I take my happy moments anywhere I can so I focus on all my good moments to avoid getting lost in the negativity... -
Thanks for the replies. There is definitely a learning curve here. I have noticed improvements since starting the diet, but I was hoping to be further along since my entire life is on hold right now.

I must be more careful in the kitchen. My kitchen is not 100% gluten free because my husband hasn't gone 100% gluten free. Anything I make him will be, but when he makes himself something - almost ALWAYS processed foods - I never think to get in there after him and scrub, scrub, scrub. I will from now on. Oddly, I wasn't thinking and made leftovers with that...

I never thought of coconut oil which I have in my cabinet and use for baking. I will definitely try that next time. Butter I will have to skip because it has never agreed with me. Thanks for the advice.

Pretty sure I just glutened myself. Twice!! First let me start off by saying my nausea has finally started letting up. (Clapping excitingly) The first time I felt a problem was last night. About a half hour after dinner. I became more bloated than I already am and I felt a lot of pressure. An hour after dinner I started feeling pressure in my chest and it...

ARCHIVED Problems with Apples
EasterLily posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had an apple this morning - a pink lady to be exact - and I can't believe how nauseous it made me. I've been eating Honey Crisp forever with no problems. Why all of sudden are apples making me sick? I was actually feeling somewhat better until that darn apple. It took me a few hours before feeling a bit better. I'm still not feeling as well as I did this... -
Hi Ruth. I am very new here also, but I can totally relate to the anxiety. I have anxiety and depression too. I've been dealing with a lot of extreme nausea which is making me very anxious and depressed. I don't have any words of wisdom, but you will find a lot of great advice and support here. I am on day 11 of my diet and still waiting to feel better...

ARCHIVED Looking for Sugar Free and Gluten Free
EasterLily replied to EasterLily's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the information. I didn't think about additives. I suspected the syrup because when I eat sugary snacks like candy, ice cream, ect.. I get very nauseous which has never happened before. Eating any type of "meal" right now is difficult because the nausea and bloating are so bad I can only eat a little at a time. Withdrawal has begun, so I'm a bit... -
ARCHIVED Looking for Sugar Free and Gluten Free
EasterLily posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hello everyone. Since starting the gluten free diet, I have suddenly become very sensitive to sugar. It makes me extremely nauseous. But I really enjoy pancakes and waffles, but the syrup - which is gluten free - has been make me sick to my stomach, so I am assuming it's from the sugar. I have been trying to find a sugar free/gluten free syrup but I am... -
ARCHIVED I need support from those who know
EasterLily replied to EasterLily's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you so much. I, AGAIN, was feeling better this morning until lunch. From then on my nausea intensified. I am so bloated it actually hurts. I can't deal with anyone right now because I'm so irritable. I bite hubby's head off TWICE tonight. I will apologize profusely in the morning. I have not felt this nauseous in about a week . I have no idea where... -

Kathouse- I'm sorry to hear of your struggles. I have been depressed and anxiety disorder my whole life so I am already medicated and being treated for those, so that is a big help when dealing with the depression and anxiety from the withdrawal. I am very sorry you don't feel your husband is being supportive. So far my husband has been very supportive... -

EasterLily replied to EasterLily's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you everyone. I knew I'd get excellent advice. I guess the depression is getting the better of me and my craving for bread is getting to me also. Cutting out foods that I love is difficult, but I know necessary. I guess I will have to be more vigilant in the kitchen. -

Thank you deb445. I have had my thyroid tested several times over the years and it always came back normal. I was thinking maybe withdraw kicked the thyroid in to overdrive and it's putting out more than it should. I have other withdrawl symptoms; headache, bloating, fatigue. I have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how I could... -

I am pretty sure I am. Nothing goes in my mouth until I've read the label. I've replaced toaster, all plastic kitchen utensils, pots and pans except one stainless steal pot which I read is ok to keep using. All my prescription meds are gluten free. I keep my food and kitchen utensils separate from my husbands. I started feeling better the other day. Nausea... -
Today is day 7 of my gluten free diet. Withdraw symptoms starting yesterday and have gotten more intense. I've had a pounding headache for 3 days now and nothing seems to ease them. I can't sleep so I am absolutely exhausted and run down. I have little to no energy. Even talking is an effort. My throat feels swollen and it feels like I'm about to choke or...

ARCHIVED New to diet and not dealing well
EasterLily replied to EasterLily's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you for the information. I will call the dr tomorrow to ask for a script for the blood panel. As for avoiding sugary foods- I'm noticing candy, gluten free of course. Is causing more nausea, bloating and pains and diarrhea. I hate the thought of cutting out potatoes because they've been a safety food for my IBS and acid reflux. But I'll try anything... -
ARCHIVED New to diet and not dealing well
EasterLily replied to EasterLily's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you. I thought it was odd he didn't draw blood to test for celiac first. Especially since he said it was possible that it could be celiac or non-celiac gluten sensitivity. I would like answers as soon as possible for peace of mind as well as medical reasons. I don't want to add another few weeks of nausea unnecessarily. I think I will call the doctor... -
Hello. I have not been officially diagnosed with Celiac Disease as of yet. My doctor has put me on a Gluten-free diet to see if my condition improves. If so, then we will take it from there. My grandmother had celiac disease, so he thinks it's a good possibility given my history and symptoms. I have been diagnosed with IBS, which I've had since I was a teenager...
