  1. Should I give the Enjoy Life Granola another chance? I tried the berry flavor, and to me it tasted like cardboard-or metal, or even worse! I couldn't even stomach one bite.. I would love to find a granola that I can eat- any other recommendations? Is the cinnamon flavor much better? I do love the Panda Puffs- though I find that they make me hypoglycemic...
  2. Oh Darn! I have some of that right now in my freezer that I just bought! It sounded good- because of the nuts and all... YUCK!! I love the kinnikinick Tapioca Raisin one that I have already started. It is fabulous. Reminiscent of a challah bread or sweet bread with raisins. Love it! -Becca
  3. thanks so much everyone for your positive thoughts! I have been struggling lately- I was hospitalized with what was thought to be a bowel obstruction, (would have been my third in six months) and had an allergic reaction to compazine. That was a week and a half ago, and since then, I have been feeling awful. Just really hypoglycemic- sooo shakey and...
  4. Hello All- I have posted before explaining my situation. I am a cancer survivor who for ten years has been dealing with pain, nausea, osteoporosis, neuropathy, diarrhea etc.... The doctors had blammed it all on the treatments (chemo, radiation) and now I finally have a GI doctor who just diagnosed me with Celiac. He said that I am "Clinically Celiac...
  5. Try the kinnickinik Tapioca Raisin Bread. It is delicious- and as a former baker I am REALLY picky about my breads! It toasts up really well, and with some butter on it, it is just amazing. Would make really great french toast as well. I am so impressed with it after having such a horrid experience with Bob's Red Mill favorite bread mix- yuck- tasted...
  6. Wow- this is good- I had made some Bob's Red Mill gluten free cereal (you know the kind with sorgum, buckwheat, and brown rice?) yesterday.. I had a bit left over. SO i formed it into patties with some splenda and dried cranberries and then mixed in some coconut. (Walnuts would have been awesome too - but i didn't have them in the house). I sprayed...
  7. Wow! This is wierd... I was diagnosed reactive hypoglycemic about four years ago after a glucose tolerance test. Aren't those the worst? I have so many episodes, and i try so hard to balance my meals, I guess that when you aren't absorbing correctly though, nothing is going to make a difference. I am so glad that I'm not alone in all of this...
  8. What just amazes me is that almost everyone here has hypoglycemia!! Why do you think that is? I get so shakey and nauseous and wierd-feeling if i don't eat every three-four hours. It came on just over a year ago- don't know why. Any insight? -Becca
  9. This is so interesting for me! Finally people who eat as much as I do!!! I am so used to hearing people talk about just picking at salads and cutting out carbs (I live on carbs ) My days lately have been like this: (and they definitely need more variety!) breakfast: Homemade peanut butter granola (which I just found out on this site...

ARCHIVED Well, I Finally Did It

Hi Dani- No problem at all! I think that your dietitian sounds great! Yes- you either want an R.D. or an LDN. Both are licensed and educated and will be able to help you alot. I have lots of clients who fall into the same cycle that you have- whether it is from food intolerances, or just being on a diet (which is usually the cause). Any time you are...

ARCHIVED Well, I Finally Did It

Hi There- I am new to the boards- but I am a dietitian, and I am also being tested currently for celiac. My advice to you would be to make sure that you go to see a licensed dietitian- it is really important- just because there are alot of people out there who call themselves dietitians or nutritionists without really having the training. You want someone...
  12. So as a newbie here, I am just learning so much from all of you. I know what I should be having (I'm a dietitian), but I would love to know what your "typical" menu looks like. What do you eat in a day? Thanks Becca
  13. Thanks so much for the Oat feedback. I am now so sad that I have been making big batches of granola with them and eating steel cut oats. Both are from Bob's red mill, so I assumed that they would not be contaminated. But, alas- it looks like I am going to need to find a different breakfast option. I was such a cereal eater all my life, and I miss...
  14. Thanks so much everyone! You are all a wealth of knowledge. SO, I have been trying to stick with the gluten free diet very consistently. The only thing that I am really confused about is the oat conundrum. What is the consensus on that around here? If I buy from Bob's Red Mill is that better than if I bought Quaker? Or should i avoid them altogether...
  15. Hi everyone! My name is Rebecca and I have been reading the posts here for a few days.. I am 29 years old and a stage 3c uterine cancer survivor. I am ten years out! Yay! The amazing thing is, about five years ago, I had a surgery to remove my gallbladder and since that time, I have had the WORST GI issues.. I have had constant diarrhea, gas, bloating...
