  1. I did live in Decatur for about one year. I was an exchange student back then. I am almost the same age as you chris. Which highschool did you go to? Me Druid Hills!
  2. I just thought of something else! The brain fog might also be related to a slight hypoglycemia. Many ppl in this forum including me tend to go a little hypoglemic... Also checkout this thread: Open Original Shared Link I don't know the exact reason for this, but I know that I was able to lift my brain fog temporarily while I still was being glutened...
  3. My advice for ppl still having brain fog. Try tweaking your life 1. Take notes for EVERYHTING. One piece of paper for one day. Cross everything out that is not inportant anymore. Check the paper regularly! 2. For memorizing numbers use an image for every number (0 to 9) and make a story out of it. Sounds weird, but really works. For...
  4. Ok ok, everybody!!! I had the same problem. I am only 24 and 4 years ago I couldn't remember a 3 digit number! Seriously. I also forgot the rest of the sentence or even what i was talking about right in the middle of the sentence. It drove me crazy. I was the most eloquent kid till 5th grade, so it was even harder. I also had problems navigating...
  5. All kind of fruits... oranges, bananas, grapes, grapefruits, strawberries...! Eggs, with bacon and veggies like kabowman! Sometimes I eat left overs from Dinner...
  6. Hey jgoings, Rüsselsheim... then I guess you are working for a big american automotive company (two big lettes)! I am german and I can tell you that it will be possible for you to live gluten-free. Well off course you cannot have all the things that make Germany great... Beer (DAMNIT!!!) and Pretzels for example. But you can still drive as fast ...
  7. Ursula you are right. The 'G' in Glutenunverträglichkeit is missing, though gluten is written correctly in the following passage! The german and the english word 'triticale' are the same! At least that's what wikipedia.de is saying! a little OFF TOPIC: Regarding the new law, starch derived from wheat has to be declared (for example: Stärke[W...
  8. Don't be selfish! Think of your kids and and even their kids! Try to get your celiac genes mixed with non-celiac ones... It will be better for your upcoming kin! Am I being too pragmatic, or what?
  9. Hey Tanya, the german version from www.celicatravel.com/restaurant-cards.html is fine and should be helpful. I am sorry, but I would not recommend Bratwurst. Eventhough there are gluten-free Bratwursts, I wouldn't eat it in a Restaurant. The Problem with Bratwursts is, that the spices and aromas used in it could be contaminated with gluten... the...
  10. lol it is true, just like food menus! Not in regular cafes though... Only in places called coffee shops (i think they need a special license)! It's a crazy but fun city... I felt kinda relieved after leaving it by train 3 days later. By the way, I also met a lot of Canadians and Americans there!
  11. Hey there, I am form Germany and I recommend the website of the 'German Celiac Society'! Open Original Shared Link <-- click on the english button!!! ARCHIVED Depression

Off course it does... I always feel really depressed after eating gluten by mistake, eventhough my life really rocks! Try checking your food for any kind of hidden gluten sources!
  13. German / German One thing I recognized is that the farther north i travel the more people i see who look like they could have celiac disease... For example, when I went to Amsterdam (in the Netherlands, which are located north of Germany) last year I saw a lot of ppl looking like I was a couple of years before my diagnosis (pale and stuff). I don't see...
