  1. Thank you all for your reply and for the reassurance that I am not being too picky.

I have another question in regards to CC and gluten free foods, it's a bit hard to explain so bare with me.

When you go to the grocery store there are some foods you can safely assume are gluten free, right? like baby carrots, bottles water, 100% orange juice.  However, I am struggling to figure out if things like cheese, pure spices, raw nuts, and dried fruit should be considered unsafe unless it specifically says "gluten-free" even if the item is only 1 ingredient.  Do these sorts of things run the risk of being CC'd or do they rarely say gluten-free because it is assumed? Haha I'm struggling here.

  2. Ok, I'm 6-7 months into this gluten free diet thing and I am still struggling understand what exactly I should and shouldn't eat.  This recovery process has been painfully slow for me so I have been trying to be as careful as I possibly can to speed the recovery process.

Yesterday we were over at my mother-in-laws for dinner for my husbands birthday and she made me my own separate gluten-free enchiladas while everyone else ate food that was catered by Cafe Rio.  My mother-in-law assured me that every ingredient in the enchiladas were gluten-free.  I was so appreciative that she thought of me, and made me my own separate meal, but I was still nervous to eat these enchiladas.  I think I was mostly nervous because I did not know if her enchilada dish, spatula, and whatever else she used to prepare the dish was contaminated.  Sooo I explained to her that I was so grateful she made them for me but I have just been too sick and I couldn't risk eating any food outside of my own home where it is a gluten-free environment.  My whole family looked at me like I was completely crazy.  Am I being crazy? Am I being too picky and too careful? Do you guys eat food cooked for you by other people who do not have a gluten free kitchen/gluten-free area in kitchen?

Also, Do you eat food from the grocery store that says "gluten-free" or only "certified gluten-free"? What is the difference? (I live in the US).

    Thank you!

  3. As far as I know I only have celiac disease.  I only take it because my GI told me I probably should.  I swear they are making me nauseous though! My GI says that they don't have that side effect so I was just curious if anyone else experienced this.  Either way I'm stopping them.  I have been taking them for 5 months and haven't noticed they help anything.

  4. Does anyone get sick from taking probiotics? I know probiotics often cause temporary side effects as they are getting into your system like gas and bloating.  But has anyone experienced long-term negative effects from these?  I'm taking Align and have been since I was diagnosed but I'm wondering if it is actually making me sick.  Let me know!

    Thanks!

  5. I have been gluten free for almost 6 months now.  I was diagnosed with moderate celiac disease through an endoscopy in September 2017.  It has been a painfully slow healing process for me.  In fact most of the time I am wondering if I am making enough progress, or if something else is going on.  However, things have improved slowly so I assume I am heading in the right direction.

Suddenly things are going terribly wrong.  I went out to eat for the fist time since my diagnosis on Saturday night (5 days ago).  I went to the Melting Pot, which I thought would be a safe place for me since they apparently have CC training and I have heard of several celiacs eating there with no problem.  I felt fine right after dinner, the next few days following I was very fatigued, dizzy, and nauseous. Then things went from bad to worse.  Last night I was in so much pain and was so nauseous I almost could not stand it.  This morning the pain and nausea continued until I urgently ran to the bathroom and released some normal looking stool along with A LOT of some sort of greasy, mucusy substance.  It was yellow in color and did not have much of an odor to it.

I now feel like I am overcome with fear and anxiety worried about what is going on with me.  When I look up anal mucus I only see things like chrones, ulcerative colitis and cancer come up.  Has anyone experienced these problems after being glutened or do you think I should call my doctor and ask him to order a colonoscopy?  I'm just really scared.  If it is just healing/glutening I can deal with it, but I'm having trouble finding anything reassuring online that this is the case.

Please tell me your experiences and tell me this will get better!
