ARCHIVED A Little Bit Of D
faegan replied to faegan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yeah... one time the onions were raw, the second they were in a soup I made. I'm wondering if the fact that the soup is so loaded with vegetables that it sort of got things moving. -
ARCHIVED A Little Bit Of D
faegan posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've had two instances of loose bowels the last week, and I noticed that the two things that coincided with these incidents were onions and also high fat consumption the day before (good fats, but fats nonetheless). Anyone see anything similar? -
ARCHIVED Dairy Issues
faegan posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Posted this yesterday, but it didn't show up on the forum: 4 Oct 2007 Read Topic Dairy Intolerance Hey... hope everyone is enjoying the fall... my favorite season. Over the course of the last 6 weeks, I've gone dairy free - completely - and have seen the problems I've had with my, well, #2s go away. This is a major buzzkill for me. I don't care about... -
ARCHIVED Poop Question: Gross, But True..
faegan replied to jewi0008's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes... I had similar symptoms. (As long as we're going here... I'll make sure I'm giving you the full picture for accuracy... I posted something similar not too long ago and did not get as many responses as I was hoping for.) My #2s were not liquidy but more like, well, pudding. I had the pain in my sides. What seems to have helped me is getting rid... -
Hey... hope everyone is enjoying the fall... my favorite season. Over the course of the last 6 weeks, I've gone dairy free - completely - and have seen the problems I've had with my, well, #2s go away. This is a major effin buzzkill for me. I don't care about milk itself, or even cheese, it's all the other foods - such as pamela's mix - that have helped...

Hello! I've been diagnosed and gluten-free for the last 18 months. Over the course of the last month, I've also gone dairy free. While my bathroom issues have improved (I'm trying not to be graphic on the baking forum!), I'm still trying to get my weight back up since I went gluten-free. I'm almost 20 pounds lighter, even though I'm feeling better ...

ARCHIVED Bm Problems
faegan posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi, All. I think this might win the "graphic post of the week" award. I am currently having an issue with my BMs. Usually they are normal. However, sometimes they start normal but then they end up somewhere between normal and diarrhea. I have stopped eating dairy to see if it's the issue, and it's gotten a bit better but has not gone away. I... -

ARCHIVED Caprilic Acid - Bad Bacteria
faegan posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey... Am I right that Caprilic acid is helpful in getting rid of bad bacteria? If so, does anyone know of a gluten free supplement that has it? I have no other issues other than gluten (ie dairy, casein, etc are fine). Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Brain-fog
faegan replied to Moscow's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been on a gluten-free diet for almost a year now, and once in a while still get the brain fog, even when I know I'm only eating whole fresh foods that can't have gluten contamination. Some here have said the brain fog was the last thing to go for them... perhaps as long as two years. I know that it's not what you want to hear, but I just accept the... -

ARCHIVED Bacterial Overgrowth
faegan posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey. I think I have a digestive tract problem with too much bad bacteria moving in and generally being a giant pain in the arse. When you take probiotics, do you lose the effect once you stop taking them. Is this a problem that just has to settle itself as my system heals? (I'm gluten-free almost 11 months.) Should I try to get meds from... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Cold Medicine For A 2 Year Old?
faegan replied to faegan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the help/opinions. I know how you feel about giving meds to kids unnecessarily. Usually we don't, but we're about to have a baby (anytime), and are trying to keep him comfortable as we get ready for her arrival. -

ARCHIVED Wine Barrel Contamination?

Here's a link to a description of wine barrel making: Open Original Shared Link Note the following toward the end: "The cooper then finishes the assembly of his barrel. ARCHIVED Reactions To Antibiotics?
faegan posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey... I have been taking minocycline for the past few months, and I've now developed some serious gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea, gas, etc.). I'm trying to figure out if it's from the antibiotic or if I may have been glutened. I've been gluten-free for 7+ months. If I have been glutened, then my reaction to it has changed. Prior to going gluten... -

ARCHIVED What Alcohol Can I Drink?
faegan replied to helptom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love New Grist, I drink lots of red wine and absolut vodka. No problems with any since my diagnosis in April 2006. I'm surprised people knock New Grist. I think if you like microbrewed beer with a hoppy tast, you might like it. -
ARCHIVED What Allergy Cold Med For My 23 Month Son?
faegan posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi. My son is kind of stuffed up with a runny nose. He's waking up in the middle of his sleep last night and tonight. Ideally, I would give him benadryl. Do other people give their celiac kids benadryl? We have Children's Benadryl Cherry at home. We gave him dimetapp cold and cough drops, because we know that it's gluten free. Any suggestions... -
