  1. Hey all, I am in the same boat. I am a vegan (only because I am allergic to dairy but I don't like eggs either). I was dx with celiac disease back in May 03 and I tried hard for four months to follow the diet. I did it and I gained 10 pounds but didn't feel much better at all. Still had all the same symptoms you've all listed with the big "D" all the time...
  2. I also had the same problem with bloating after being gluten free for over 3 months. It caused me to give up on the diet. When I finally recommitted to the diet in January I stil had the same bloating issues. I blamed it on corn based products at first and then I discovered Pioneer's Digestive Enzymes which have worked wonders on my bloating. I have days...
  3. Luna Bar makes a bar that is low carb and gluten free called Luna Glo. They taste okay in my opinion. Also, if you don't react to oats (as I don't) then Luna Bars make 3 flavors that do not contain Barley/Malt (like most of their bars). Those flavors are Peppermint Stick (which is great), Sweet Dreams, and Chocolate Covered Cherry. Now, these bars do contain...

    ARCHIVED Coeliac And Sport

Nic, Thanks for your concern & help. I appreciated it. I don't eat fish but I do take vitamin supplements. I have checked and they are gluten free although I do need to check one again because now that I think of it, I think I missed checking it the first time! I am lucky in that I live in California (orginally New Jersey) so being a vegetarian...

    ARCHIVED Coeliac And Sport

Nic, Thanks for the advice. I will have to try the Dextrose Tablets. Where would I buy them? I do avoid dairy (lactose intolerant) and am also a vegetarian so my diet is crazy but I try not to have too many foods rich in fiber the night before I run . . . yet I still experience problems. I will have to give the dextrose tabs a try though. Unfortunately...

    ARCHIVED Coeliac And Sport

My issue is not keeping up energy when I exercise but something a little different. I have been dx since last June and have truly been following the diet since Jan. 1, 2004 (I tried for 4 months before and gave up). I am an avid runner but lately (especially the past 5 years) my digestive issues have become worse and worse to the point where I can't...
  7. I actually have given blood before and after my diagnosis. I used to have to prep myself w/iron before dontating but since I've been gluten-free, my iron is stronger then ever. I don't think it's a problem. Otherwise the doctor would have advised that I not give blood. I think the best bet is to ask your local blood association.
