  1. If Yop is gluten free in Canada and the UK then chances are it is gluten free here as well. I found the website for BioMarkus: www.biomarkus.com They are only located way out in the suburbs but there are a few of them. None down south, but if you happen to have a car and just happen to be in the north... Also you can try this chain of stores called...
  2. I also went to the michel et augustin site and i didn't find any recipes either... I did look under their products and they have one kind of cookie made from buckwheat, but all the other stuff has wheat in it. Most French bureaucratic staff are not helpful at all (I'm in the middle of the visa process, so believe me, I know!). Although I don't think...
  3. I looked a bit more on that site last night (I have a terrible habit of speed-surfing a site, bookmarking, and then really checking out the site 3 months later) and followed one of the links to another site by another association of celiacs. On this other site they talked about the first one and mentioned a little about membership. I am under the impression...
  4. There is a site (in French) for celiacs. Intended of course for french celiacs. Open Original Shared Link It's pretty good; it lists all the foodstuffs that you can and can't eat and information about how to get reimbursed by the French social security (unfortunately seems to be worthless for me as you need to get an intestinal biopsy that is of course...
  5. Hi - i eventually gave up my quest of finding freshly baked gluten free bread at a bakery. absolutely NO PLACE makes fresh gluten free bread. everytime we go to a bakery my boyfriend and i always ask about gluten free bread and everyone looks at us like we're freaks. once at a boulangerie the woman behind the counter recommended some bakery in the...
  6. Hi everyone, I can recommend a chain of health food stores called "Les Nouveaux Robinson". There are 3 of them in the Paris area: Montreuil, Boulogne, and Neuilly. I've been to the ones in the first 2 suburbs, but not in Neuilly yet. I can tell you that the one at Boulogne is much much nicer than the one at Montreuil, and I think it even has a larger...
  7. I read in the New York Times this weekend an article on Jack Black. The article opened up with him at a restaurant with the producer of his latest movie. Apparently, there were at some kind of vegan restaurant and ate wheat free bread. Not really sure that is a sign of celiac, though. I think the whole wheat free diet is very popular and trendy these...
  8. Charcoal? Isn't that what they give you at the hospital to make you throw up? Sorry if I am totally wrong about that....I didn't know it also absorbs all the other stuff too. Will have to give it a try. Can you find it in healthfood stores? Also, there was a time when I did yoga once a week, and I found that I was quite energized afterwards. I haven...

    ARCHIVED Eczema

hey everyone, it's definitely not my other food allergies (i have a slight allergy to soy, unless it's cooked really well, and i have an allergy to some fruits and vegetables, but again, if they are cooked then i'm fine. my only symptom if i eat these foods is a really itchy throat (apparently related to my pollen/grass/trees etc allergies). also...
  10. Thanks for all the advice...we might end up getting a breadmaker without a gluten free setting that is also on the small side (we don't have much room in the kitchen). although i am still pushing for that kenwood i saw that has the gluten free setting, can make jam, AND has a recipe book with at least 3 gluten-free recipes (!)
  11. Hi everyone, I've been thinking about getting a breadmaker. I went to the store the other day to look at some, but I wonder if the gluten-free setting is necessary for making gluten free bread? Is it just a question of figuring out the right setting if it doesn't have a gluten-free function? And what exactly does a breadmaker do? Do you just throw...

    ARCHIVED Eczema

Hey everyone, does anyone get regular eczema related to celiac/wheat intolerance? i noticed that (along with the pimples) i always get this weird eczema too. i thought it might be DH but then i looked all over the internet for pictures of DH and regular eczema and what i have looks a lot more like eczema than DH.
  13. My mom is from Taiwan, my dad is from Singapore and his parents from china. I was born in the U.S. Oddly enough, no symptoms on either side of the family; my parents have always eaten dairy and wheat and never had any problems.
  14. hey everyone, i have had swabs done and all that and each time it was a yeast infection except for once, when it was streptococcus B (i think, I can't really remember right now -- it's been REALLY windy these days and now my allergies are out of control -- I literally just went through an entire box of tissues in like 6 hours). the yeast infections...

    ARCHIVED Acne

YES - I used to have horrible acne on my face - then I tried to cut out wheat from my diet and the pimples went away. And yes, I've noticed that when I do eat wheat, I usually get one of those horrible painful bump pimples about 2 - 3 weeks later. And they usually take a couple of weeks to clear up too. Sometimes I dab on a bit of lavendar essential oil...
  16. Hey everyone, I know that I definitely am intolerant to wheat, but I haven't been tested for celiac yet, but I've noticed that I breakout sometimes when I have ingested wheat. I usually get a bunch of red itchy spots, and they are usually on the elbows, inner arm, or lower leg (near the ankle). I went to see a doctor a few times and it's always been...
  17. Hey everyone, Probably a long shot, but just curious as to whether or not there are any celiacs living in France?
  18. Hi everyone, Just a quick question: does anyone know if recurrent yeast infections can be a symptom or related to celiac disease or wheat/gluten intolerance? I've noticed since I've developped my wheat intolerance that I have been having recurrent yeast infections -- at least once every other month. Thanks for any info!
  19. hey everyone, first of all, thanks for all the replies and advice! The problem is that I'm not really positive as to what I am exactly allergic to (I know that I've definitely got wheat intolerance, but as for other grains, I'm really not sure). While avoiding wheat products, I usually end up buying gluten-free products. I'm living in France now, so the...
  20. Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice... I was diagnosed with a wheat sensitivity a few years ago, after a blood test was done. I was originally diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. Anyway, after the wheat sensitivity diagnosis, I noticed that I was constantly breaking out with pimples on my...
