Hi Everyone, I have found that since I have had celiac, I get sick much easier. If someone around me has a cold or stomach bug, I pick it up myself. I used to only get sick about once or twice a year, but it is much more now. I was wondering if this is a common theme with other celiacs. It makes sense, being an autoimmune disease, but I just wanted to see...

Does anyone know if Roxicet is gluten-free? I know that Percocet and Tylox are gluten-free, but Roxicet is generic and I can't find the info anywhere. I was hoping that someone could help me out. Thanks! -Brian -
ARCHIVED What Symptoms With A Glutening Do You Experience?
GlutenWrangler replied to jabberwife's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Food might just naturally move slower through your GI system, causing a delayed reaction in the diarrhea, cramping etc. When you are eating gluten on a regular basis, it is constantly moving in and out of your system. When you're gluten free and then do a challenge, your body has to decide what to do with it and how to react. So in that respect it sounds... -
ARCHIVED Please Help Me With Meaning Of My Enterolab Results
GlutenWrangler replied to Sarah8793's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sarah, Alleles are specific copies of a gene. In other words, you receive one allele from your mother and one allele from your father. I hope this makes sense. -Brian -
ARCHIVED Help Do I Have Celiac
GlutenWrangler replied to charmaine broxton's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Charmaine, Doctors can be useless sometimes. Don't take what he says as fact. If you suspect celiac, pursue it yourself. My doctor was dead-set on IBS, and he was wrong. Enterolab is a great way to get a diagnosis if you can afford it. You can go gluten-free now if you want and it won't affect the test results. If you can't afford Enterolab, just try the... -
ARCHIVED Helping A Friend With Celiac's - Glutenguard
GlutenWrangler replied to NickZ's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Nick, Gluten guard is a waste of money. I am incredibly disappointed with it. First, the barcode scanners don't always work. It depends on what you are scanning. The cheapest I could find one for was about $165. Second, Gluten Guard works by evaluating ingredients, not by checking with manufacturers. I can scan a product that I know is gluten-free, and... -

ARCHIVED Question About Unusual Hunger.
GlutenWrangler replied to frenchiemama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I wasn't sure if the oreo colored one was an online picture icon or one of yours. I have a 3 month old male. He's fawn/white. Sorry about getting off topic! Thanks, Brian -

ARCHIVED Gluten-free Migraines
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ursula, That actually sounds really good to me. I'm not too good at cooking but it sounds easy enough. I'm really sick of the cube steak anyway. It always comes out dry with no flavor. I appreciate the ideas you've been giving me. It's not looking so bad afterall. Thanks again, -Brian -

Leah, You're absolutely right about the casein in yogurt. I'm stunned that it didn't dawn on me. I must have been in the lactose state of mind. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I won't miss the yogurt at all anyway. Ursula, I will try cooking fruits and vegetables. Anything to add some calories. I'm 5'10", and I do feel like I'm starving myself... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Migraines
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Leah, Thanks for all of the information and advice. I haven't tried eating nuts or applesauce, so I will definitely give that a try. I have had rice and I have no trouble with it. I definitely need to add more calories, so this should help. I have lost 45 pounds since November. The only reason that I eat the yogurt is for the active bacteria cultures. It... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Migraines
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I tried adding fresh fruits and veggies when I first went gluten-free, and it didn't go over too well with my stomach. I felt full and bloated for hours after eating a peach. I know that I should keep trying things, but every time I do it turns out to be a disaster. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Migraines
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Leah, I am definitely getting enough fluid everyday. I have to drink around 3 gallons of water and gatorade to keep my self from getting dehydrated every day. But on the other hand I'm definitely not getting enough to eat. I'm trying to be careful since going gluten-free and I'm only eating what I know I can tolerate. Unfortunately, that isn't very much... -

I cut out dairy when I cut out gluten, so I know its not that. I really should get tested for food allergies. Hopefully everything works out. Thanks for the input. -Brian -
Hello Everyone, I have had migraines all my life. They are are pretty well under control now with medication. I could go 2 months without one. I have noticed since going gluten-free that I have had a lot more. About 4 in the past two weeks. Has anyone else had this type of thing happen? Thanks. -Brian

ARCHIVED Sad And Angry
GlutenWrangler replied to Byte Me's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Fiddle-Faddle, I'm not sure about any long term research on Zantac, but the article did say that because Zantac is not as strong as Nexium, Prevacid, Protonix etc....it is less likely to cause the same degree of bacterial overgrowth. It did say however, that people who use antacids like Zantac and Cimetidine (Tagamet) are twice as likely to develop bacterial... -
ARCHIVED Sad And Angry
GlutenWrangler replied to Byte Me's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Why not just get an EnteroLab test done. It costs a lot but if you have celiac it will definitely show up. Also, there hasn't been much long term research into proton pump inhibitors like Prevacid. I read a study that was done on mice that showed long term use of PPI's causes bacterial overgrowth, which then causes gastritis. My doctor laughed when I spoke... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Guard
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
A lot of products show up as "may have gluten" which is no help. Pepsi shows up this way, and it says Mountain Dew contains gluten, but I saw on this website that all Pepsi products are gluten-free. It makes me unsure if I can trust the program. I saw a similar product put out by Clan Thompson, which seems to be more trustworthy. I don't know about spending... -
