ARCHIVED Waking Up With "d" For 9 Months Now
GlutenWrangler replied to marciab's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have the same problem as you all do. I thought that it was really abnormal, so it's nice to know I'm not alone. From what I''ve read, probiotics should help out a great deal. Good luck everyone. -Brian -
ARCHIVED Is It Normal?
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I did some reading and found something called excessive drainage syndrome, which can cause headache, diarrhea, bloating, and gas. It makes sense that it would feel like getting glutened. Thanks for the replies. -Brian -
ARCHIVED Hello To All/new Guy Questions
GlutenWrangler replied to nephlim's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It definitely could be celiac disease or gluten intolerance. It is good that you asked to be tested for it. Kepp in mind, if the tests are far into the future, eating gluten-free before hand will affect the test. Just something to keep in mind. But it definitely might be a sign that you are feeling somewhat better after going gluten-free. Take care, and good... -
Is it normal to have symptoms similar to a glutening for the first few days of taking a strong probiotic? The probiotic is definitely gluten-free. Thanks -Brian

ARCHIVED Does This Sound Familiar ?
GlutenWrangler replied to Mary Contrary's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The diet will definitely affect the test, and it's already too late to re-introduce gluten for the biopsy. Just keep with the diet and don't worry about a negative biopsy. You could still have an accurate result if you get tested through Enterolab. That's if you want to know for sure, and if you want to check your genes. Good luck. -Brian -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
GlutenWrangler replied to Haleigh's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
About 2.5 weeks for me too. But it is the holidays, so it may be delayed a few days if they are out of the lab. I would count on 3 weeks. The wait is the worst part. -
ARCHIVED Just Want My Life Back
GlutenWrangler replied to Marlene's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Marlene, I understand how you feel about the gluten/casein-free diet. Unfortunately, the healing process is very slow and discouraging. But it sounds like you are doing everything right, which means only better days are on the horizon. I'm sorry that you are having such a hard time right now, but things will get easier as you heal. I agree that you should... -
ARCHIVED Cold Or Flu
GlutenWrangler posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm not sure whether I have a really bad cold or the flu, but it's making me absolutely miserable. Does anyone know of any cold/flu medicines that are gluten-free? I'm looking for something that I can just get at the store, not something that I have to order online. I can't find anything online besides Scot-Tussin, which probably isn't on the shelf of my... -
ARCHIVED Hi New Here - Wondering About Diagnosis
GlutenWrangler replied to Jane2007's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
At 22, I feel like one of the lucky ones. Doctors are horrible at diagnosing celiac disease. Even gastroenterologists are clueless. If you want an official diagnosis, talk with your doctor and schedule a celiac panel and a biopsy. If the panel comes back negative, the doctor probably won't want to do the biopsy. But you can still have celiac disease with... -
ARCHIVED I'm Not Sure What's Going On With Me
GlutenWrangler replied to ami27's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ami, Your tests probably came back negative because you had been eating gluten-free. When a celiac goes gluten-free, the antibodies begin to subside, and with enough time they will not show up on a blood test. But the truth is that you don't need a doctor to tell you that you have celiac disease. The diet has proven that you absolutely cannot eat gluten... -
ARCHIVED My Enterolab Results Are In....
GlutenWrangler replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
#1 - The numbers on the Enterolab's results do not indicate how badly you have it, except on the fecal fat malabsorption test. The numbers just indicate the amount of antibodies present at the moment of testing. #2 - Enterolab is not bogus. They devote their resources to researching celiac disease/gluten intolerance, and to helping those who have gone... -
ARCHIVED Unclear Diagnosis
GlutenWrangler replied to jmn1958's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
One positive biopsy is all you need. You definitely have celiac. That doctor is an idiot, no two ways about it. -Brian -
ARCHIVED Any Way To Help Feel Better After Being Glutened?
GlutenWrangler replied to mom-to-claire's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Getting glutened is never good, but it is something that will happen for the rest of your daughter's life. When I get glutened, I don't really deviate from my normal schedule. There's not much you can really do, but it is good to drink plenty of good water. It just needs time to work its way out. Each time a celiac gets glutened, their immune system goes... -
Although I had stomach problems already, a stomach virus was the final straw.

ARCHIVED Symptoms/endoscopy/opinions...
GlutenWrangler replied to geminigal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your symptoms match well with both celiac disease and an ulcer. Although, with ulcers people experience a lot of pain on an empty stomach, which does not match with you. Since the endoscopy is done, I agree that you should try the gluten-free diet. You will know either way when the results of the biopsy come back. But even if the biopsy comes back negative... -
ARCHIVED New To This, But Not *official*
GlutenWrangler replied to Anonymousgurl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is by far the best site for celiacs on the internet. I have learned more here than anywhere else. If you need any information about anything at all, just ask. Chances are someone here knows. I would also suggest ClanThompson.com. They have lists of gluten-free food and a lot of other resources. I hope this helps. -Brian -
ARCHIVED Problems Again
GlutenWrangler replied to Ash82's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ash, I'm 5 months into the diet and like you, still have diarrhea. I saw a helpful post on this site recommending a supplement called L-Glutamine and also probiotics. L-Glutamine helps your intestine heal faster. Probiotics add good bacteria to you intestine. Most likely, you intestinal bacteria is out of balance right now. The probiotics can make a big... -
ARCHIVED Just Want To Help My Boy!
GlutenWrangler replied to Peta's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
February is a while away. It's too bad your son has to spend the holidays suffering. He needs to continue eating gluten for the biopsy to be accurate. If you are going to go ahead with the biopsy, I would talk with your doctor about maintaining your son's health until the day of the biopsy. I agree that testing for vitamin deficiencies might be a good idea... -
ARCHIVED Going Through Alot Of Tests For Celiac And Crohn's
GlutenWrangler replied to sarahlarry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Do what you think is best for yourself and your family. When it comes to celiac disease, doctors are usually worthless disappointments. Try Enterolab if you want help from people who actually care. Good luck. -Brian -
ARCHIVED Help..new Patient, Doc Appt Tomorrow
GlutenWrangler replied to Dedrasmom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It never surprises me how pathetic doctors can be. I'm glad you found the right diagnosis. -
ARCHIVED Tired Of Being Miserable
GlutenWrangler replied to ReneCox's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You are exhibiting classic symptoms of celiac disease. On top of that, you had an awful reaction after being on the diet and accidentally ingesting gluten. I would be very surprised if you didn't have celiac disease, or gluten intolerance, pretty much the same thing. You may test negative if you have a gastroenterologist run the normal tests. If you don't... -

ARCHIVED Feelings In Stomach Area
GlutenWrangler replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When I get glutened, I have sharp pains in my upper abdomen. I attribute it to gas. I also have muscle twitches, brain fog, headaches, and emotional disturbances. But what is true for me probably is not true for you. Everybody's different. If you think you're getting glutened, try to track down the culprit. Check everything that you put in or on your body... -
ARCHIVED Diarrhea Question . . . Sorry!
GlutenWrangler replied to LisaJ's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been gluten/dairy-free for 5 months and still have diarrhea daily. Enterolab told me not to expect it to go away for 3-6 months. If this is true, I guess it's normal to have it for a while after going on the diet. -Brian
