  1. Thanks for your help. I have no idea how many samples she took, hopefully more than a couple. Have to wait two weeks to get the results in the mail.
  2. Had the endoscopy and the dr. only biopsied the duodenum....is that the typical place to test for celiac?
  3. Jen, Thank you for posting the links. I found this from the first link and it really helped in my understanding: "The degree or type of symptoms that a person with celiac disease presents with does NOT depend on the severity of the disease where you take the biopsy. In celiac disease the damage starts in the intestine just after the stomach and works...
  4. I haven't been dx'd yet, I go for the biopsy next week. If it comes back positive for celiac I will be one of those who have chronic constipation and weight gain.
  5. I can see why you might think that, however, I can have a cup of decaf with heavy cream and it doesn't bother me, in fact I can have several cups in a row. It's just the lattes that seem to be the culprit. I'm thinking that may be because I use MUCH more cream in a latte then a cup of coffee. In fact, in a latte it's only two ounces of coffee per 8-10 ounces...
  6. Thanks for the suggestion. I would if I liked cold coffee, it's just one of those things that I like hot, even extra hot..bummers, huh? The good news is, if I turn out to be celiac and or lactose intolerant I'm really good at giving up things I shouldn't have. I've just decided to spend the days leading up to the biopsy eating and drinking things...
  7. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences, it's been so helpful. I really appreciate it! I think I'm going to try the extra lactaid one last time as an experiment and see what happens. I don't have a latte everyday, but it's just one of those special treats that brings a little joy in my life, so I don't want to give them up if I don't have to...

    ARCHIVED Milk?

This may be a silly question, but does Almond milk taste like almonds, or milk?
  9. Thank you for your input. If I ate that much bread for that long I shudder to think what I would weigh as I don't have the weight loss with this, (whatever it is) like most those who have celiac. But, I think I'll make sure I get gluten for the next week, just in case. Thanks again.
  10. Yes, I sure do. That's part of the reason why I describe it as if someone has punched me.
  11. Okay, thanks.
  12. The gluten challenge sounds horrific, I'm sorry you're having such a rought time. I'm scheduled for a biopsy July 18th and though I haven't deliberatley cut out gluten I do eat low carb, so I don't get alot of gluten in my diet. Do you think a week of the gluten challenge would help the biopsy show if it's gluten intolerance?
  13. You know, the funny thing is regular skim milk, cheese nor yogurt seem to give me the kind of reaction having a latte will. I do get lattes from Starbucks, but mostly I make them at home. I have, at both places, a decaf latte made with heavy cream and sugar free vanilla. I use the heavy cream because I've low carbed since the year 2000 and the heavy cream...
  14. Nancy, Thanks so much for your detailed explanation of your experience, it helps greatly. I had gone up to 142lbs from my normal 110lbs in 2000 when I decided to do low carb and no sugar, I went down to 108 at one point, but on low carb you don't eliminate wheat, just the bad carbs. When I was very, very strict I wouldn't eat any form of wheat and when...
  15. Thanks for your input. Right now is one of the times for no reason I can explain, the rash is gone. I never know when it will come or go, so I'll have to have the other biopsy... just my luck. And thank you for letting me know to not go gluten free til I've had the biopsy. Would you suggest not going diary free til then as well? Thanks again for...
