Passing It On

People always tell me I'm bubbly. My marriage counselor said that my perky demeanor probably really grated on my (now ex-)husband's depression. When people tell me they'd hate not eating bread, I usually say at least I can have chocolate! But, most...no, ALL of the Valentine candy that my students gave me yesterday had WHEAT or MALT. So, I regifted it to the secretaries and ate some Hershey's kisses and marshmallows a kid brought.

The last two weeks we've had to work until 6:30 PM and so the staff club we pay dues to (yeah, teachers don't EVER get a free lunch) ordered food for dinner. Of course it's sandwiches that I can't have. And frankly, it's too hard to pack TWO meals for myself. Well, actually, I just don't WANT to. My friend wanted seconds, and I told him he can always have seconds-mine!

In college I worked for a restaurant that catered and offices would often call and say, we have one person who's allergic to ... can you make something? And we would. WHY can't my school secretary do that? My mother is the best secretary in the world (just ask anyone who works with her) can't I have a considerate one? Would it have killed her to get a serving of meat & cheese w/o bread? It was awkward when my principal and secretary stood and asked how the food was as I sat there quiet with a soda and chips.

If I find the ability to request with fake sugary-ness I guess I might try to ask for a special request next month.

Oh, and my "team" goes out to lunch next week...the non-overweight ones want sushi, but the heavy ones want steak lunches with salads and bread and baked potatoes at one of those pretend steak/burger joints. We'll see what happens. It wouldn't be so noticeable except that the one who always seems to PICK the restaurant is the heaviest one and just today she was whining about how hard she's trying to lose weight. Clue: let the un-heavy people pick the restaurant, chica.

Where's my bubbly optimism again?
