Recovery Time From Gluten Challenge

My husband just finished a gluten challenge for a endoscopy biopsy. His doctor only had him do the challenge for 1 week. (I tried to tell the dr. what I have read about eating equiv. of 2-3 pieces of bread per day for 3 months but it went in one ear and out the other.) Honestly 1 week was more than enough for us to know that the gluten was hurting him. He had been on the gluten free diet for 7 weeks when he had to do the challenge. He has been back on the gluten-free diet for 4 days now and I was wondering how long it will take him to get back to where he was before the challenge. Will it be like starting completely over? I was hoping he would bounce back to where he was (which still wasn't good but it was improvement). We just bought him some gluten-free liquid vitamins and sublingual B12 hoping that might help. Any help from someone who has done a challenge would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jennifer

My challenge wasn't that long (it was just dietary, not for a biopsy), but still took about two weeks for me. It may take him a bit longer, or shorter, depending on his system.

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
