i need to try to put my mind at ease.  our daughter is 5.5 years old and 6 months into her diagnoses. the reason we found out she has celiac was because she didn't grow for about a year. as of today she has gained 1 pound and grown 1 inch in 6 months.  we have seen so many physical and mental changes in her since going gluten-free but i honestly expected to see more growth by now.  do i just need to chill? ;)

would love to hear your experiences.  did you kids start to grow right away? after 6 months? after 1 year?

She probably wont catch back up to her potential, height is achieved day by day over the time your body is able to lengthen. Every time you get sick or malnourished the growth will pause, you don't get that back, that's ok, we would all be over 6 foot if everything turned out perfect all the time. An inch in 6 months is close enough to normal for a 5 year old. It's a lot better than nothing at all.

Given it's only been 6 months and she's gained an inch which is about normal, I'd say her gut is well on the way to being healed which is great.

I have a 7 month old son and have decided to raise him gluten free (and grain free). He's actually accelerated in growth in the last month and a half since he started eating solids. I think this is going to work out very well.

Our experience is just one of many, but we did see growth right away.  My son was 8.5 when he was diagnosed, and he, too, was small.  He grew a lot in the first 6 months gluten-free (like 10 pounds and 4 inches).  We were shocked.  We hadn't really noticed how small he was and then he was outgrowing all of his clothes.  Two years later now, and he's been going up in his growth charts.

It sounds like you are seeing positive signs physically and mentally.  I would give it time!  Every kid is different.

We've only been gluten free for about 2 months and my 11 year old daughter, who was wearing a size 6 and 7's that were really big on her. Has graduated to an 8!! I think she has grown about 3/4 of an inch but has only gained about a pound or 2.  We are really excited about any little bit that she gains or grows!

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
