Initial Biopsy Results

I had my endoscopy today. The Dr said it showed damage to the duodeum consistent with celiac disease but will wait for path. results to give a final dx.

I kinda thought that he'd be able to see damaged villi today and give me a more definite dx. Has anyone else experienced this where you've had to wait for path. results to get a dx ??

Cheers

When my husband had his 1st biopys in July 2005 the doctor told us everything was normal that he didn't see anything, but that he did take some biopsy samples to send off to check for Celiac, H Pylori, ect.... but he didn't expect them to find anything and that we should go back to the GP that refered him. When the report came back it was negative for the H Pylori but positive for changes compatible with Celiac Sprue and also for mild foveolar metaplasia (which is inflamation).

A doctor cannot diagnose coeliac disease without waiting for the lab results.

Even if the bowel looked inflammed to the naked eye,it is only the lab results that will tell you how bad the 'villi' damage is. :)

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
