Easy Play Dough

Hi, I just finished experimenting and have a recipe for easy gluten free play dough that isn't too sticky or crumbly. I thought I would share it here. It is an adaptation of a recipe I found here a couple of years ago when my daughter was first diagnosed.

https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/22445-flippin-playdoughgrrr-i-need-help/

This is a simplified version.

Hope it helps!

Gluten free play dough

In a large mixing bowl place:

½ cup gluten free cornflour (corn starch)

½ cup rice flour

½ cup salt

2 teaspoons cream of tartar (gluten-free)

1 teaspoon of oil

Add food colouring to 1 cup of boiling water then add water to bowl and mix until it makes a smooth paste.

Leave until mix cools to room temperature or just above. (20-30 mins)

Add:

½ cup rice flour

½ cup gluten free corn flour and mix/knead until combined.

At this stage the dough is usually still a little sticky so add a little more cornflour as needed.

Voila! Beautiful gluten free play dough.

I find that using fine salt gives the nicest texture.

This play dough tends to get stickier over time rather than dry out, so sometimes I add a little bit of cornflour at the beginning of a play dough session if needed.

Thanks for sharing! My 1 year old is in the process of being diagnosed and he loves play dough so this is great to know about!

I don't see the salt quantity.

Ok I see the salt but is that what you are supposed to add the water to?

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
