Hello!

I had a blood panel done 5 years ago  for celiac disease. At the time I was suffering from large bulky stool, comstipation(since age 9), and underweight for my age group(9 yrs old). When I was 15 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes which was cause by damage from familiar pancreatitis. Up till age 25 I exhibited yes the same symptoms. Recently I’ve been diagnosed with prancreaous incificiancy. I am to take creon with all my meal. Down side to that is that it makes my blood sugars go heywire. Currently I’m experiencing more hard large stool(like when I was younger), extreme bloating after meals, gas, burping, extreme pain in center of my chest, under ribs on both sides and kidney area on both sides of my back. Nausea and no vomiting are also common. I’m currrently not gluten free and eat a well balanced meal. I have a dietitian appt scheduale s for next month to manage the creon issue and a wellness visit with my doctor. My question for this group would be should I be retested?  My primary who originally ordered the test stated it was negative but I could still get the biopsy done if I wanted further confirmation. I attached the report below.

Your opinons will be helpful thanks!

Hi,

The tests should have a range of possible values with them.  The interpretation of the tests depends on knowing those ranges.  Can you post them?

It looks like you only had some of the celiac tests.  I don't see deamidated IgG listed?

That's what I thought. No ranges were given from the dr report. I also noticed tht same test missing. I may ask my mother who is a lab tech for further clarification. Also I may ask my pcp for further testing due to the missing IgG.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
