Pasta Maker...

Hi all!

I'm dying for some toasted ravioli, tortellini, and fettuccini alfredo! I would like to buy a pasta maker as I've made homemade pasta in the past (before gluten-free) and it was very time-consuming and I can't ever seem to roll it out thin enough...

Does anyone here have a pasta maker that they like/don't like?

And what about the differences between the different kinds, ie, rollers, presses, manual, electric, etc...?

Thanks!

I have a "Pasta Express" machine that I purchased on ebay, I don't think they are very expensive in the stores though. I use my gluten free pasta recipe in it and it mixes the dough and then extrudes it through whatever die I choose. There are probably 10-12 different shapes. I know there is a fettucine die but I am doubtful about the ravioli or tortellini as those usually need to be rolled out by hand. It works great for me as I mix up a large batch of the dry ingrediants and then keep it in the freezer and just add the wet ingredients when it is time to make the pasta. I usually cook the pasta right after I make it but the instructions say that you can also freeze it. My whole family likes the pasta.

I have a Open Original Shared Link. It's more expensive, but it's worth every penny. I'm looking forward to making pasta again after all this time.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
