What Do You Do When You Accidentally Eat Something With Gluten?

:( I have been learning to eat gluten free since Christmas. My success has had it's ups and downs. Lately I have had much better success by learning where the hidden gluten is. Since then I have been feeling so much better, almost normal. Today I went into a newly opened health food store. There they had some great looking gluten free cookies. So I picked up a bag of ginger snaps and on my way home I ate 2 tiny cookies. Out of my new found habit I grabbed the bag and began to read the ingredients. AHHHHH! First ingredient was whole wheat. I suddenly spit out what I had in my mouth. Sure enough in 10 minutes I was in a great deal of pain. Now how can I get it out of me quickly so I can get on to feeling better. Any suggestions?

I am going to call the store and have them seperate the gluten free from the rest of stuff.

This is a good learning experience. Always, always, ALWAYS read the label. People are lazy and if they get an unwanted item, 99.99% time they're going to chunk it off somewhere in the wrong place. Or, for the uneducated worker, they might think something's gluten-free and it's not, so, into the gluten-free aisle it goes.

As for getting glutened, the only thing I usually do is drinking plently of water and maybe take Tylenol. Far as it goes for me, nothing much really helps. I have to ride out the storm 'til its gone. hopefully, someone else can suggestion something. Just keep strong and strict on the diet. :)

      Maybe you have a low  intolerance to Wheat.   Rye, Barley and Malt are the gluten in Celiac disease.  It has always been stated Wheat and Gluten, not just a Wheat intolerance.  Barley will keep me in bed for (2) weeks.  Gut, Migrains, Brain fog, Diahrea.  It is miserable.  And when I was a toddler the doctor would give me a malt medicine because I always had Anemia and did not grow.  Boy was he off.  But at that time the US didn't know anyone about Celiac.  This was the 1940s and 50s.  I had my first episode at 9 months and did not get a diagnosis until I was 50.  My immune system was so shot before being diagnoised, so now I live with the consequences of it. I was so upset when Manufacturers didn't want to label their products so they added barley to the product.  It was mostly the cereal industry.  3 of my favorite cereals were excluded because of this. Malt gives me a bad Gut reaction.

      It is odd that your Tissue Transglutaminase (TTG) IgA level has bounced from the "inconclusive" range (7.9, 9.8) down to a negative level (5.3), only to climb back up near the positive threshold.
