My 22 month old had 1 of 3 panels for bloodwork show positive for celiac. We now need to find a GI doctor. We're in Chandler, just outside of Phoenix. Anybody know of a good pediatric GI doctor in the area? I have a couple names, but am anxious to get opinions from here, too. Thanks!

We liked Dr. Scheikein (? sp) who is over at Dobson and the US 60. She seems only pediatric. She was nice and explained things in normal terms not all doctor terms.

Also there is a doctor that is part of Phx Children's hospital that treats out of an office near that same building. I can't remember her name, but she was ok. She was alittle upset with me that I took matters into my own hands and put our son on a gluten free diet before we saw here. However, I couldn't get in for over 3 months, I wasn't going to let my son continue to waste away.

Good luck,

Julie

Thanks Julie! Dr. Scheinken was actually referred to us by 2 other people as well and she is closer to me than Phx. Children's HOspital. I need to make sure she takes our insurance, but that's the way we're leaning right now. It''s nice to hear the name keep coming up from different people...makes me feel a whole lot more comfortable. We were also referred to Dr. Shum (?) at Phx Children's Hospital. How's your son doing now? Did you end up having a biopsy? You would've had to put him back on gluten for a few weeks to do that, right?

This is the other doctor that keeps popping up from different people. I will call on Monday and see if they take my insurance as the other doctor I was originally looking at, Dr. Scheinken, does not. Thanks so much! I love Banner. That's where my son was born and it was a very good overall experience there. Also his pediatrician is right next door in the same parking lot practically. Let's cross our fingers that they take Aetna!

She used to take supplements, but her abdominal pain is so debilitating that she hasn't been able to continue.  Her primary care team has been suggesting liquid supplements rather than pill form to help.  They just drew a lot of blood Friday and we are slowly getting all that work back.  I will definitely check into thiamine!  Thanks!

They have not done that yet.   We are looking at some other treatments to help. And you are correct.  The tickborne illness has been a wild ride.  Our whole family has been battling different tickborne illnesses.  Its expensive and exhausting.

I cannot tolerate it at all - triggers burning and nausea, ditto aspirin.  Here in the UK I take Paracetamol.

For back pain, I take a combination of Cobalamine B12, Pyridoxine B 6, and Thiamine B 1 (in the form Benfotiamine), which have an analgesic effect.  These three B vitamins together work way better than those over the counter pain relievers.  Theses are water soluble B vitamins that are easily excreted via the kidneys if not needed.  Thiamine will also help the nausea.
