I try to find humor in everything (forgive me, but even funerals - like the time my grandfather's brother was laid out in coffin without socks on - shoes but no socks. Now my sister & I recalled that he never wore socks even in winter and it just made us giggle to see that. That sent us into the worst case of giggles where we had to leave the funeral home and walk outside a bit).

Hehe...just imagining this has me kind of giggling too.

Gluten Screener....that sounds great to me Debbie! I suspect some individuals in particular will keep you on you toes. ;)

I just looked at where you live. A little bit too far for our daughters to meet up. :(

Wouldn't that be nice. Isn't anyone in here near KY?

Welcome, Debbie, consider this your official citizenship document... (I'm the village calligrapher)

I wish I had your gluten screening expertise in my kitchen after the boys have been in there... it's scary!

Last night my husband gave her his school desk from when he was her age. She just looked so cute sitting in it. I was touched but then again....I'm touched by everything it seems. I'm sappy to say the least.

That would have touched me too. How very sweet. :)

We, of course, will just have to paint it pink & purple though. I think most 6 year olds would put in the same request.

I have three nieces, and it's always all about the pink and the purple!

Match.com. The thing is that I was online deleting all of my addresses & switching email addresses & for some reason I looked at his picture & just sent him a line that if he ever wanted to talk that he could drop me a line. I didn't have my picture posted because I really wasn't expecting to meet anyone. I was basically wasting time & looking out of curiosity. He said he never responded to any emails or anything without a pic but for some reason did to mine. Anyway, here we are now.

That made me laugh...I'm sure the little beagle wasnt amused though. :P

Lisa,

Sorry things didnt go well today. :(

Chelse,

You must be one tough penguin! I cant believe you made it! I couldnt have lasted a week......I'm proud of you! :D

Beagle -- or as we call her - the bagel, is always nuts. She is pampered and was the queen of the house for 8 years, until the two year old came around.

Lisa - please feel better - politics are just that -

Chelsea -- have beer too.

Ok, I find humor at funerals also. Please forgive me. But I want to remember the good things about people. For instance, I went to a funeral for a fellow rugger and I could not stop laughing at a picture his family posted in the reception area --- it was the young man wearing nothing but an apron running down the aisle of a grocery store. He was the produce manager! Now mind you, he was the quite type, so this made me really laugh that he cut loose.

Hi Picard!

I wish I could be like that. I guess for me, everyone in my life that I have lost have died so tragically, and the sadness too overwhelming.

swittenauer Enthusiast

I've never really had anyone close to me die. I have been very lucky. However, my grandfather is in very poor health & is day to day lately. He had his 93rd birthday I believe just a few days ago. I don't know how I'll deal with that when it happens.

No way! I don't want that kind of punishment! Beer absolutely tears me up.

Although at this point, how would I know the difference

Our daughter is also NUTS about pink or purple.

I havbe a request for some warm wishes/prayers. I am waiting to hear on a HUGE posting (the Greenland thing) by the end of the week. I really want this, even though it will be hard away from the family. However, it is great for my job. I'll keep you all updated.

Oh Ryan, best of luck!!!!! You will be in my thoughts, wishing for some good news on the job to come your way :)

Hi everyone, glad to find that Rachelville continues joyfully. I am so impressed by how graciously these growing pains have been handled.

My computer is still not working as far as this site goes. Is anyone else running Windows 2000? Yesterday I felt just horrible about it and my sweetie actually offered to leave his work computer for me but I said no, I'll be O.K. :(

Ryan,

I've been wondering about the transfer. We will keep this is our prayers.

Thank you for the Deglutinzer/security designation. Yep, that's me constantly wiping the kitchen table to avoid any CC after I make my lunch (before I go to work every morning).

Switenauer that's a nice internet match story.

Good luck Ryan

Yes, pink and purple are girly colors. I love when little girls do little girl things and don't grow up too fast.

Rinne,

I don't know what to tell you about your computer. Have you cleaned up internet history, cookies etc. We have windows xp now although the operating system shouldn't have anything to do with it.

I tried to respond earlier but my computer was acting schizoid. It's fixed by rebooting. We really need to send it in but it's not life threatening and I don't think I'd do well without my computer for 1-2 weeks.

I still like pink & I'm twice your age. I'd love a pink room now. Ha! When I was little my room was lime green. Yuck!

Totally agree, that is an excellent point. I tend to mention these vitamins and also ferritin, because in England (not sure about the rest of the UK) these are the tests generally offered routinely through our public health system.  It is unusual to be offered much more than that. I was low normal/deficient in all three, and found that when I supplemented them all I felt better.  That said, my private nutritionist put me onto a very expensive broad spectrum supplement pill which no doubt went some way to address other deficiencies, and I took it into my own hands to take a supplement which contained all the B vitamins., too.  Interestingly, when I checked the supplements with my own GP a little while later she was very worried about the large doses of one particular vitamin that the broad spectrum supplement contained, so I came off the lot - although my gastroenterologist still has me take vitamin D.

Did they ever tell you specifically which vitamins would interfere with which tests? Fermented pickles source of thiamine  and other B-vitamins, The fermentation process with lactic acid bacteria increases the nutrient value.   Colonies of beneficial bacteria can help crowd out the the bad SIBO. Have you had the rash biopsied for Dermatitus Herpetiformus?  Atopic Dermatitis and dermatitis herpetiformis share symtoms and atopic dermatitis patients have higher risk of dermatitis herpetiformis.  dermatitis herpetiformis is a symptom of Celiac diagnosis. When I had the carotid artery stent, the hospital put down "wheat allergy" for the food service.  I guess allergy puts the fear of god in them more than the misunderstood Celiac Disease.  Whatever keeps me alive in this world.

You are correct.  Same place.  I have used their site for so long and have it bookmarked.  Still living in past.  Our support group was affiliated with them.

Hmm, I think you mean the Gluten Intolerance Group®?  Their website is not gig.net.  Maybe it was at one point?  I am new to all of this, but did find their website here:  https://gluten.org/ Kind Regards, Known1

@Scott Adams, You're right about corn and wheat not sharing similarities in the 33-mer peptide segment of gluten.  Corn has a completely different peptide that causes an autoimmune reaction because it attaches to HLA-DQ8.  Casein in dairy shares with wheat similarities in the33-mer peptide chain. Sorry about the oversimplification.  Maize Prolamins Could Induce a Gluten-Like Cellular Immune Response in Some Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3820067/
