Celiac Panel Results

My son had celiac panel done and we got his results back yesterday. Can someon ehelp me understand what they mean, We wont be able to see his dr til next week.

The gliadin ab evaluation, S

Glidiadin IgG, S 69.8

Glidian IgA, S is 9 9

normal range is blow 25

These are the only numbers on his test. I know some said I should other numbers, but this is all they show. Did they forget some test, or is this enough to diagnose as celiac. Or can it be some other auto immune disorder. Or do we need to do more test. Any help would be appreciated

Those two alone are not a Celiac panel. A Celiac panel consists of:

tTG-IgA or tissue transglutaminase-IgA

AGA-IgG or Antigliadin IgG

AGA-IgA or Antigliadin IGA

Total IGA

The IgA & IgG antibody tests aren't really enough to diagnose anything, much less Celiac. They are highly suggestive of gluten intolerance or other "leaky gut" issues, but Celiac specific testing requires the tTg.

With regards to the IgA - is that 9.9 or 99??

Looks like with an elevated IgA - there is a 97% chance that it's Celiac related, if the total syrum IgA is normal. If his is 99, with a normal TT syrum IgA and a reference range under 25, it's a pretty good bet that you ARE dealing with Celiac.

No, i havent, We met with the family dr on monday. What test should i have her run. I want to be well prepared. I live in a small community and the drs do not know much about celiac. so any help i would appreciate.
