Help- Gluten/casein Free Intravenous Feeding

my father and mother are finally willing to consider altering their diet due to multiple swallowing, digestive, inflammatory issues after my father had his stomach punctured while the doctor was attempting to dilate his esophagus just this weekend.

i'm wondering if it is possible to have him begin a gluten/casein free trial while still in the hospital to potentially speed the healing from both the puncture and the repair surgery. they are in el paso, tx and could use a physician referral of someone who is conscious of food intolerances. thanks in advance for any advice whatsoever.

Wow...I think you're over most of our heads with this kind of urgent medical intervention.

What I've observed is that without doctor's orders, it is nearly impossible to get a special diet. So the key would probably be to locate a doctor that would listen and help....does their insurance cover a natural doctor, or could you maybe contact someone elsewhere on celiac.com to find a doctor. There is a section that talks about doctors and suggests which ones are good with gluten free, maybe that could help...or you could contact the insurance company. Sometimes insurance companies will make referralls for specific types of doctors....
