Dried Milk Replacement For Baking

Per Bette Hagman's bread book, I have been using Almond Meal as a replacement for dried milk but have since discovered that I don't only have problems with peanuts but also almonds. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone knew what would happen if I left that ingredient out of my bread baking (or if someone has a suitable alternative)...outside of altering my liquid amount.

NO to:

-Lactose/casien

-gluten

-soy

-peanut/almond

-corn

-MSG

-vingar (I use wine as an enhancer since I can still "stomach" this)

Have you considered dry baby formula. Nutraminigen I think? Is supposed to be the allergy substitution.

No, I was concerned that a lot of the allergy baby formulas would be soy based or would include soy...I can look. Thanks...

Check out Vance Foods website, they make a potato based milk product.

Kate,

We have used the Vance Dairy free substitute, it also has a choc. flavor. MY son is allergic to dairy, eggs, wheat, nuts, peanuts, peas, fish and sometimes soy!!

give it a try I know Miss Robens carries it.

Plus the pitcher they carry to mix it is worth it!!!

      Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

      The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
