Back On Regluar Diet..

Well a couple of weeks ago my sons GI doc told us to put him back on the regular diet after his endoscopy.. (which was negative) we have not had blood work done on him yet and I am trying to get a stool sample in for testing..

anyway.. I also went back on the regular diet.. and hey.. even though I am eating all kinds of stuff like candy and ice cream and all.. I have lost 6 pounds. Now fitting into my old jeans is cool and all.. but every day it seems I get on the scale and am a pound lighter.. I have also had bloating and gas and all.. I have fallen three times.. ( am normally klutsy but not this bad..) and have been feeling spacey..more than usual..

makes you think...

Has this wieght loss been related to diet? my son did not lose any weight.. didn't gain either.. his bms have been about the same..but he is avoiding most gluten containing items.. you would think if I am on a HIGH carb diet... eating lots of ice cream etc.. (i've been bad) that I would not be losing wieght.

I just wish I could mainly get some answers about my son.. and mabye after another two weeks of this if I am still losing Mom will have to go to the doc.. that'll give me four weeks on the regular diet.. good for testing..

Ugh UGh and triple UGH

D,

Are going to the washroom like crazy?? That could cause the weight loss. I used to be under 100lbs before diagnosis, but that's because every time I ate I could keep anything in my body!! I'd rather gain more weight and be healthy than underweight and malnurished.

Somewhat..I would have to say yes more than before.. whats worse is being an adult and having accidents.. I started having trouble when I had the last baby Mr 11 pound boy.. I chalked it up to that.. didn't accociate it with my other son's problems till now that I am having this trouble again..

I weighed 90 pounds till 7 years ago when my first son was born.. now I am getting progressively lighter..about 2 pounds a week.. and I am eating high carb high fat ice cream cookies etc etc.. all the bad stuff..

so it's not like I am trying to lose weight

Hi D. It sounds like your body may not be absorbing nutrients (and calories). Doesn't sound healthy to me. I'm not a doctor, but I'd sure go see one.

Good luck.

Kim.

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
