Back From Endo/colonoscopy

Hello all,

I just got back and it went easily. They found some irritation in my duodenum on the endo. On the colonoscopy he found ulcers and irritation in my ileum. He mentioned Crohn's. :( I'm hoping there might be some other possible reasons for them. At least this might be a reason for the anemia. I'm having a barium swallow on Friday.

I would appreciate any knowledge you all can share about the Crohn's/celiac connection. I'm glad I have a place to come after this kind of stuff-- :D

I am glad it all went well. It has been shown in many studies that Crohn's responds well to a gluten-free diet. So, even if officially you have Crohn's rather than celiac disease, the gluten-free diet is recommended by knowledgeable doctors. But often people who have Crohn's also have celiac disease, and the Crohn's was caused by celiac disease to begin with.

Either way, whichever came first is not important, as a gluten-free diet is recommended with all diseases of the bowels.

      That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

      Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

      Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

      Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
