Glutened Or Sick?

dd (6) has not been feeling well. She's lost 2 lbs so she's back under 40 lbs again. She is getting a mottled look on her cheeks, red and white. Her diarrhea has started back up and her impulsiveness is creeping back again. I don't know if she's just got a virus, if she's getting glutened or maybe having another food sensitivity.

If your child (or yourself) starts having symptoms, how long do you wait before contacting the doc and assume it's "just" glutened?

I just double check what they are eating and ask them the symptoms. My 2 1/2 yr old will tell me when his tummy hurts and how. Lots of those viruses are going around, so I would wait a few days and they have her checked.

Thanks for the reply! Turns out, a few days later after this post, my friend was babysitting and fed her Top Ramen. She's been super sick ever since so I forgot I was worried about her a few days before. It became very obvious to me what happens now when she's glutened (badly glutened anyway). I didn't think I'd ever forget what the gas and D smells like :o

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
