Question About Ingredients Made In The Us

I am about three weeks into trying to live gluten-free and have a question: safe/unsafe food lists often state that an ingredient, for instance maltodextrin, is likely safe if made in the US or Canada. Can I assume that if the ingredient is in a packaged food by a company with a US address that every ingredient is therefore from the US? Or is it a possibility that the US company may have acquired ingredients from outside the US? My dietician thinks, yes, that makes it safe. Any thoughts?

Even when a food item has components that are made outside the US they are required to follow the same regs as food make here if the foods are going to be sold here. As heavily processed as much of the food on our shelves are the likelyhood that some component, or the entire food, is made in another country is strong.

If you are new to the diet the best way to heal quickest is to eat as much whole unprocessed food as possible. When you do consume processed foods if you have any doubt about the gluten statis of the ingredients call them or try an internet search. Kraft and Unilever are reliable brands that will not hide gluten ingredients under 'natural flavoring', I usually call about any other company.

      I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.

Remember, consistency with these short sessions and prioritizing post-workout recovery, including good sleep and hydration, are just as crucial as the workouts themselves. It's a smart, gradual process at any age.

      Trader Joe's carries a good variety of affordable gluten-free foods like bagels, hamburger buns, pasta, etc. I like Franz Gluten Free bread, which is available at my local Costco. Food For Life and Little Northern Bakehouse (advertisers here) also make excellent gluten-free breads. Costco also sells gluten-free pizzas, crackers, gravy, etc.
