Gluten Free Wedding Cake

I'm planning my wedding in Oahu and am looking for a bakery that makes Gluten free cakes (it is my wedding day and I'd like to be able to enjoy at least a little). I thought I would have just the top made Gluten free at least.

Anyone have any ideas for bakeries over there? Haven't been able to locate one yet.

if you cannot find a bakery you might be able to make a cake and find folks to decorate it -- or another deal you could make is offering them mixes they could use and the basics of cross-contamination -- most bakeries would be willing to make your cake in a safe manner -- but you may have to pay them more or just sell them well -- you know, expanding clientele, etc.

Might I also suggest cupcakes. You could get regular cupcakes for all your guests (should be cheaper than doing all gluten free) and then a few gluten free ones for you for that day and the next. That's what I plan on doing at my wedding in April. Good Luck!

It might depend on where your having the wedding. The first thing would be to talk to the pastry chef if its at hotel.

Many of them are aware of celiac and what we can and cant do. It also depends on how high end you want to go.

I would write to Wanda Adams the food editor of the honolulu advertiser. I'm sure she would help you find someone. She did a story on a few of us Hawaiian celiacs including one chef working for a food service equipment company who may be able to help.

Now, If you change to the Big Island, My son was a pastry chef and now a chef at Mauna Kea Hotel. He makes wedding cakes on the side and has made a few gluten free cakes. So has Christope, the pastry chef at the Four Seasons here.

I know of what used to be a great bakery on Oahu -- used to be, because they had no idea what I was talkling about when I asked about gluten-free items.

      Hello I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.       Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet. I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now. He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.       Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-F...

I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

      Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.
