:D I live in PE and am looking to find gluten-free foods that are not found in theAtlantic Superstore. I have been reading about AMY'S KITCHEN frozen foods and would like to try some or anything else that tastes good.

Thanks, Brenda

Hi Brenda, I'm in Fredericton, NB, and I have to say I LOVE your avitar!!! :D The Chickadee is my absolute favourite bird!

Unfortunately I'm not much help with your food search... I really don't buy/eat many specialty products for gluten-free living. In fact my favourite product, Pamela's Pancake and Baking mix  is brought up to me from Massachusetts  by a good friend! :)

Not sure if you have Glutino products available to you, I do like their Poppy Seed Bagel! It's VERY good! Unfortunately, I'm staying off dairy right now to try to figure out if it's been the culprit of my ill stomache lately. So, without cream cheese, it's just a peice of bread to me! Next week I plan to add it back to my diet, with cream cheese and see how I make out!

Also, Thai Kitchen has many soup and noodle products that are gluten-free, I don't find as many at Superstore as I do Sobey's. Here in F'ton they are in our health food section as well as the Asian food section. They are extremely tasty and very convenient for work or quick snacks at home. Not cheap of course, <_< but not as pricey as many of the gluten-free foods.

Anyway, I will keep an eye on this thread, I may learn of something yummy too! :D

Hey Brenda!

I am also from PEI!

I do a lot of shopping at the Nature's Harvest in the Charlottetown Mall (There is also one in the Confederation Court Mall). They have Sterk's products (which are awesome), and you can also order Rosie's Gluten Free Gourmet Food from the Nature's Harvest as well (I think this option is fairly new).

I shop at the Sobey's across from the Charlottetown mall. I find that they better options than the Atlantic Superstore. Sobey's just started carrying pasty pie gluten-free cookies, which are extremely good. Sobey's used to sell 3 gluten-free amy's dinners which are really good. However, I think they only carry one now :( I was thinking of asking them to bring the rest back. Maybe if more of us show an interest they will bring them back!

Hope this helps, and feel free to ask me any questions! :D

Oh thought I should mention this... to save you trouble,

In the Sobey's across from the Charlottetown mall the Amy's dinners are directly across from the seafood department in a small freezer. There are also a lot of yummy gluten-free waffles in there too! I eat them all the time!

 Thanks Tammy and Carrie I will check out your info. I'm going to ask Sobeys in Charlottetown to bring in Amy's Kitchen frozen meals.

Thanks, Brenda

I'll also ask Sobey's to bring Amy's back! I know that a lot of people bought them because there were always a lot gone when I bought them.

Also...

I was at the Nature's Harvest the other day and noticed that they had Rosie's gluten free frozen boxed pizza! They also had apple pie ummmmmm.

I am actually kind of disappointed in Sobey's now, they stopped getting most of the gluten-free amy's dinners, they stopped selling the Old El Paso corn chips (the only mainstream chips I could eat without getting sick), they appeared to have stopped selling all my favorite gluten-free waffles, and I haven't seen any new Kinnickinick bread now for almost a month! ... and to make things worse Nature's harvest is having trouble getting strek's bread now. I haven't seen any sterk's bread in there in months!

I haven't contacted Sobey's yet about the amy's meals, but I am thinking of saying something soon and I am going to mention the Kinnickinick bread and the waffles! If this is bothering anyone else please say something too! They may actually change if they know more people will buy!

and would like to try some or anything else that tastes good.

Also, I just found out that there is a lady at the farmers market that sells gluten free dinners. I have tried 3 of them and they are very good!

Hi Tammy-

I'm only an hour away from you, I live in Vanceboro, Me. about 6 miles from McAdam. I was thinking about taking a ride in there to check out the Superstore, I heard they have some gluten-free stuff. Is it worth my trip? I only have 1 healthfood store nearby in Calais and I've just ordered some mail order foods to try...I'm very new at this, just diagnosed last month. -Patty

There is a store on Burns Avenue, Charlottetown, PEI (Between Walmart and the Charlottetown Rural) and they sell gluten free flours, bread, bagels, cookies, pizza crust, ect. They sell Sterk's bread, which is in my opinion the best gluten-free bread. The store is called, A Fresh Start. I was just in the store today and I thought it was great!

I have been disapointed ever since the Nature's Harvest at the Charlottetown Mall shut down. Now this store (A Fresh Start) sells almost everything that Nature's Harvest used to sell except for Rosie's products. They may be able to order them in though.

You should check out the Dieppe (NB) farmer's market on Saturday mornings. They serve a gluten-free breakfast and they also sell a bunch of gluten-free stuff like: Lasagna, pizza, bread, pies....

I was just curious about this store. I would like to try it.

Where exactly is it located?

Your DGP-G is also high. The thing to do now would be to trial the gluten-free diet for a few months to see if there is improvement in symptoms.

Welcome to the forum, @Roses8721! How long were you off gluten before getting the celiac blood testing done? The testing is not valid after having been gluten free for a significant period of time. Many of your symptoms align with celiac disease.

Hello, I am feeling frustrated. I have hEDS and lifelong digestive issues but my GI PA is very focused on my celiac panel and I just want to make sure that she should be focused on that because completely changing my diet seems to have worsened my symptoms.  Symptoms are constipation, diarrhea, and acid reflux with spicy foods and certain foods like tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions. I also don't have a gallbaldder as it was removed almost a year ago. This also exacerbated my symptoms. I did have joint pain from hEDS but that was already treated with low dose naltrexone about 4 months prior to going completely gluten free. Endoscopy was abnormal but inconclusive; basically showed some inflammation - which common with hEDS. I don't have any vitamin deficiency.   Celiac Panel Results: TTG-A <0.5 U/ML Reference Range: 0.5-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 DGP-A 72.0 U/ML Reference Range: 0.2-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 TTG-G <0.8 U/ML Reference Range: 0.8-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 DGP-G 24.0 U/ML Reference Range: 0.4-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 IgG-A-M Results: IMMUNOGLOBULIN A, QN, SERUM 165 MG/DL Reference Range: 87-352 MG/DL IMMUNOGLOBULIN M, QN, SERUM 164 MG/DL Reference Range: 26-217 MG/DL   What are your thoughts, internet? Are there any questions I should be asking the PA? Thanks!

Help. I’m spiraling. Years of extensive symptoms:  What could this be? Years of: Mildly elevated alk and alt Fatty liver Random days of feeling like I’m coming down w flu but no fever and nobody else in house sick Intermittent diarrhea Severe abdominal distension Long history of cavities and enamel deficiency Sound sensitivity Anxiety and depression Low libido Sun skin allergy Frequent fatigue ended up seeing PCP because I looked 8 mo preg. Started gluten-free diet then celiac serology negative. SW GI Dr dx me w celiac as I had been in bed for 3 days after eating gluten after cutting. GI said not to do biopsy because it was clear what was going on and added to chart. My spiral is not seeing anywhere this is done and want to see if anyone else has dealt w this. If not celiac idk what else I will do. Family history or celiac as well as a death related to this.
